Summer was soon coming to and end with of July coning up Benny was planning to ask Kayla something important.
"What's the big idea?" Scott asks when Benny and Kayla came knocking on his door.
"Night game. Come on." She says with a wave of her hand. With no more questions Scott grabbed his glove and the trio started to run towards the Sandlot. . . except Ham who was stuffing his face with chilly dogs and chips.🙄
They played their best at times like this. She guessed that the boys all felt they were part of the big league in some great stadium. She was just glad that it made them happy.
When they got there everyone went to their respected positions with Benny at the bat and Kayla the umpire.
Benny did his little wind up, touched the balls of his shoes with the bat and nodded to Kenny to tell him that he was ready.
Kenny pitches the ball and Benny hits it, hard. Everyone looked up to see where the ball went but as the boy was rounding the bases, they all got caught up in the fireworks.
When he finally made it back to home, Kayla grabbed his hand and he looked at him confused. She just nodded her head towards the fireworks and she watched them with the rest of the team, locking her hands with Benny's and leaning her head on his shoulder as he places his arm around her waist.
Benny turns Kayla around making her quietly gasps as he puts his arms around her waist and a hand on the side of her face and slowly leans in. Kayla knows what he's doing so she puts her arms around his neck and kisses him as fireworks go off in the night sky behind them. It was one of the best moments of their life.
And the two would remember it for a long time to come.
