Older Scott (narrating): There was one all time greatest moment in the history of sports, in 1932 World Series. The story goes that in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs, a full count and the trying run on the base, Babe Ruth raised his arm and pointed out to the senter field features.
No one believed it, because nobody had done it before. But the Babe was calling his shot. On the next pitch, the Great Bambino hit a towering home run. And even though he'd been a hero before that, he pretty much became a legend.
Thirty years later a kid named Benjamin Franklin Rodriguez and his girlfriend Kayla Rose Elizabeth Ruth, the daughter of the legendary Babe Ruth, became a neighborhood legend and it was one of the best summers of my life. . . when they taught me how to play baseball and became my best friends and they got me out of the biggest pickle I've ever been in.
----------------------------
"Come on, Benny!" A girl yelled excitedly at her best friend.
"Pickle!" Ham yelled and the team bombarded the umpire and third baseman.
"Go, go, go!" Ham yelled. When they got to Benny he twirled her around. He lets go and places her down and placed his arm around her shoulders making her smile.
----------------------------
"Come over at 9:00." Benny said to Ham.
"Alright." Ham responded walking to his house which was on a different street than Kayla and Benny's.
"See you later." Kayla and Benny say in unison.
I moved to the neighborhood just two weeks before school was let out. It was the same summer that Dodger Marry Villa would break the stollen bases record. With something incredible going on it should've started off with loads of great things happening for him, but it didn't.
Scott waves at Benny and Kayla from across the street. Benny nods his head in greeting and Kayla waves with a small smile. She then yelps as Benny lifts her by the waist and puts her over his shoulder.
"Benny! Put me down!"
"Not a chance princess." Benny responded with a smirk he opens the door to his house and puts her down and leads her inside since he invited her to have dinner with them.
Benny carried Kayla into his house in noticed that his mom was coming into the kitchen so he quickly put her down and gave her a kiss on the cheek making her blush.
Mrs. Rodriguez: Ah, Kayla! Perfect timing. I see Benny has brought you over for dinner again. I need your help picking out some pillow cushions.
"MOMMM!" Benny whines. "I brought her hear to hang out with me not you." He pouted while crossing his arms.
