Summer's Close

Porlyscia walked into the infirmary, it's been close to two months that Lucy had been working as the nurse and the second consecutive week that Natsu has been hanging around the office. She could see that Natsu held an interest in her when he would come into visit her once a week and bring treats that Wendy would make; it was different know, he had been subtle about coming before whereas now he was there everyday.

"Natsu, don't you get tired of coming here?" His aunt spoke up as she walked in.

"I'm just here to drop off some chocolate chip cookies that Wendy made for everyone at home." Natsu explained.

"Wendy has been really nice sending this for me Porlyscia and they taste really good too." Lucy said with a mouthful of cookies in her mouth.

"I should be going before my next class starts, later Lucy." Natsu waved as he waked out.

Porlyscia looked at him as he smiled and waved Lucy; he looked so happy and vibrant. She knew that look well enough, it was the look of love exactly like the one she gave Atlas when she met him and look at her know, about to be hitched and living for another person. She ran after Natsu immediately after he walked out.

"Natsu, you do remember what happens during that time?" Porlyscia said with ice her in tone.

"Yeah, dad has been trying to educate me about it but it's weird hearing about it from him. I need someone who's capable." Natsu said in matter-of-fact voice.

"Your father is capable but maybe it's hard to watch his son grow up; after all when the deed is done, you are the next candidate for the throne and he knows the difficulties that comes with it." Porlyscia advised carefully.

"How would dad personally know? It's not like he's been through it, I can tell you and mom are sisters." Natsu chuckled.

"I'll be going to class now then aunt Porlyscia, see you at the house later." Natsu waved her good-bye and ran off to his class upon hearing the bell. Porlyscia wondered what Grandine and Igneel had been telling Natsu and Wendy all this time. She walked back into the office hoping to give Lucy a helping hand with all the paperwork she had to do but her mind was on the fact that Natsu didn't know his lineage.

"Need some help?" Porlyscia offered.

"Sure." Lucy smiled stuffing another cookie in her mouth. Porlyscia smiled, thinking Natsu sure knew how to pick them.

~At Home~

Lucy jumped at the sound of the phone, noticing her fathers caller ID pop up.

She lifted the phone off the cradle to answer.

"Hello Dad." She stood up, walking into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.

"Lucy, are you at home?" Jude spoke through the phone.

"Yes dad, I'm home. When are you coming home?" Lucy questioned.

"I'm in a meeting so maybe you shouldn't wait up on me. We've been talking about some stuff here and I think that I might have to be away in another county for month." Jude sounded sorry on the phone.

"A month? You're gonna miss my birthday and our birthday traditions that we do." Lucy whined.

"I know sweetheart but if I don't go, the branch there is gonna close and I don't want countless people jobless." Jude's words hit a note in Lucy's heart, knowing what he said was right; people deserved those jobs and it was their source of income, it would be unfair for them lose it.

"I understand; I know you could do it and help them." Lucy said with encouragement.

"Thanks honey, I'll see later." Jude hung up and Lucy put the phone back on the stand. She would kill to do something right now but Levy was out of town and her dad wasn't coming home anytime soon. She walked around the house in hopes of finding something to do with no avail.
