"...Mr./Ms. Y/N, W-where are we going?" The Sinner beside you asks, trying to calm herself but her quivering voice betrays her own feelings. Probably, it's the red glaring lights and dense air that have been keeping her scared.

S-193, Ariel Spencer, the current shackled Sinner so far.

"The Interrogation room-Where you will be interrogated for your crimes" You replied, not even giving a single glance to her, as you know that your stern gaze can make her scared of you. The Chief had informed you to guide the young lady in the Interrogation room, she seemed anxious and didn't appear to like the cold atmosphere here in the Bureau so you were assigned to assist or help her calm down whenever needed.

To you, she doesn't even look like a Sinner, she's rather different than the others you've met before. Nevertheless, a criminal is a criminal, appearance doesn't matter when it comes to crime.

Only the sounds of footsteps can be heard as you continue to walk in the dim hallway. Eventually, you've arrived at the interrogation room. Cuffing her hands together, you lead her inside and tell her to remain patient in her seat before going back outside to wait for the Chief.

"..."

It's been five minutes late and the Chief hasn't arrived yet... You were pacing around until you heard scurried footsteps from the hallway. To your surprise, it's just the adjutant with a stack of files in her arms, a look of distress splattered across her face.

"Adjutant?... Where's the Chief?" You gently grabbed the files in her arms, giving her a moment to catch her breath and compose herself "...The Chief hasn't slept for days which causes her to get sick this morning... And since today is scheduled for Sinner Ariel's interrogation, I'm afraid we don't have any choice but to...-"

"...You want me to Interrogate the Sinner instead?" You cut her off and she gave you a firm nod. "It's not that we're forcing you to do so, we can reschedule it until the Chief recovers."

"No need, I'll do it"

"It's that so...well I'll just inform the Chief about it then. I apologize for the sudden inconvenience."

You nodded in acknowledgment, turning around and getting back inside the Interrogation room... You're not used to this type of thing. Nightingale can do it, but you know how packed her schedule is right now. All the Chief's responsibility will be in her grasp.

You let yourself sit comfortably in the chair opposite the Sinner. The lights were dim, and she didn't seem to notice you there at first. Stretching your arms, you search for the switch, and a glare of light shoots from above.

"Ah..." The Sinner seems to have been startled by the sudden burst of light. "Don't be afraid, Miss Ariel, I meant no harm. You just need to answer a few questions I'll be asking. The MBCC will protect your dignity as a citizen of the DisCity...The Chief won't be here so I'll be the one to interrogate you for the time being"

"Okay..." Her hands are clenched, as if unable to fully relax. You continue to slow down your approach "You may take your time to adjust, so everything will go smoothly after that I'll start to question you so I can put all the evidence of the case together. Understand?"

It took a minute before she gave you a jittery nod and you took this chance to start a basic question.

Perhaps it's a good choice you didn't let the adjutant do it. You know damn well how much of a terror Nightingale is when it comes to dealing with Sinners. The thought of it sends a chill down your spine.
