It's graduation day the day we turn away from being kids and turn to adulthood. We have just marched in and are listening to a clergy man give a speech. Jayden has made valedictorian he is up on the stage seated next to the the student council, and not next to me. I know I'm acting needy but this is a very emotional time for me. After four years of college I am finally leaving and starting a family. And later while everyone else goes to the beach house in Milwaukee tonight to spend the week, Jayden and I will be heading to our new home in Harbor Island. Then tomorrow morning we are off to a doctors appointment. I can't believe I am actually doing this I am really moving on. I hear Jayden's name being called and turn of my thoughts and give him my undivided attention. He stands and steps up onto the pulpit.
"Good morning everyone. I know others we have heard took the chance to say good morning to each and every group personally but we are all people so good morning to the people here today. Well let me talk about my life here, inspirational kind of, fun for the first year or so, ah hard work nah, but what it was was life changing. When I first came to this school I was a mess and anyone could testify to that, but my father was always there to get me out of it. I know I was smart when it canes to written school work, but with out my father I would have been kicked out of here a long time ago. I don't know what is was, the freedom, the consent need for something to do, the longing feeling to be in charge they all got a whole of me for my first three years. But what I want to talk about the most is my last year, my senior year, this year. When second semester started, I changed. I didn't know why for the first three months but now I do. I found a goal that I wanted to work towards. I found something to keep me busy in my free time. I found someone, I found some people. They showed me where I was going wrong, what I needed to do to reach my goal, and what she didn't like about me straight up." He said she "I learned to love, to protect, to honor, and to accept the word no. To accept the fact that my father couldn't give me everything in life, to trust. And there is something I want all of you to learn from my experience. Right now you all think you are big and bad and invincible but guess what we are not. I journey does not end here. We still have a whole world ahead of us and we should approach it head on willing to take responsibility for our choices. To not go where you don't want to be found, to hold on to someone you want to keep" he stops and looks at me in my eyes "To love with the fullest of your heart not giving away anything you already put in." Still staring at me then he turns back to the center "This is my message to you today. Venture forth, grow strong so you may live long. Thank you" he steps away and the crowd uproars with cheering and clapping. I myself is out of my seat and screaming and before long there is a standing ovation and the cameras are back. It takes about 2 and a half hours for everyone to go up to collect there certificate and awards. But when it finally ends I am relieved. I say goodbye to everyone and run to go find Jayden. I see him speaking with a reporter and try to stay on the side to wait until he is finish but she sees me and calls me over.
"Hi" I say
"Hello Kira, I was just asking Jayden about his speech" she says to me and then turns back to him
"Is it true that the she and the we you were talking about in your speech were Kira and your baby" she asks putting the mic to his mouth.
"Of course and my little sister Hope" he says not taking any time to think about his answer.
"So how soon do you think the marriage will be. Sources say you guys are moving in to a mansion in Harbor Island, Newport Beach. Is this true?"
"Yes it's true, but for the marriage part we are taking things slow waiting for the baby first you know." he says
"Treating her like a princess aren't you" she says
"She is a princess" he says and I blush
"What do you have to say about that" she says pointing the mic to me.
"He is my prince" I say and with that we leave. We decided we wanted to share this moment on our own and didn't get a driver. We backed all our stuff in my car and drove to the house yesterday and put my car in the garage, but today just me and him we are taking the hour journey there today. We get into his car and wave goodbye to the campus, then as soon as we hit the campus we start blaring the music. Even though we aren't good singers we are good at the arts and this is our jam. All about him. Most likely get pulled over like thrice telling us to turn down the music and slow down. We reach the house at about 6 and even though I have been here three times before I still feel increasingly surprised that this is my home. I run into our room remembering my favorite part of the room. My closet it goes back so far I get lost. The electrical clothes hangers spin when I press the button and I start to cry. How can I be so lucky all I ever wanted I get, a awesome boyfriend that loves me and that I love, a giant house, a dream job, and a child. This is so unfair I have been bad, I did bad things, why am I being awarded. Jayden hears me crying and runs into the closet and looks for me. When he finds me
"What happen Kira" he asks. I don't answer.
"Talk to me baby, it's okay" he says stroking my hair and siting beside me on the carpet.
"What's wrong. Do you miss your friends and school" he tries again. I decide to put him out of his misery.
"I don't deserve this" I say pointing around me
"Yes you do, you worked for this" he says
"How much of this did I pay for" I ask him "what ten, 15 thousand do you know how much this place costs. 14 million Jayden, 14 million." I say and this time he is the one that doesn't talk.
"I have been bad, to my father and to everyone else" I say
"Kira, what are you saying" he asks shaking me seeing that I'm losing it
"I am a murderer leave me" I say
"What, stop talking all this nonsense" he says picking me up.
"I killed my mother you know" I say and then he drops me and though it didn't hurt I feel a surge of pain go through my body.
