[S1 EP8] The Response

The next day arrived and everyone was up bright and early to execute the plan. Everyone in Richmond knew there was going to be an announcement at the square, but no one knew. Joan actively recruited people overnight to get on her side. David and Gabe didn't show up, and neither did Eleanor and Tripp.

Everyone in Richmond gathered as Clint and Joan were on stage arguing back and forth. Clint told everyone what Joan had been doing, which shocked and freaked everyone out. 

Joan fought back. She said all of that was bullshit and that David had gone rogue and Clint was trying to take over something she built. That is when the reinforcements arrived.

"You're fuckin' crazy, Joan!" Javi said from the crowd. The entire group was there. Side by side, together. 

"Well if it isn't the lunatic's brother! Everyone, this is Javier Garcia. The man responsible for many deaths of our loved ones." Joan said.

"That isn't true! Your men attacked my family!" Javi said. 

The crowd backed away, giving Javi and his group the floor. Joan looked down at them as Clint backed away from Joan. 

"You've been sending your people to raid other communities just like you did with Prescott!" Javi said.

"THAT IS NOT TRUE!" Joan slams her foot on the stage. 

Javi turns to the people. "There is a warehouse near here. It's got all sorts of raided loot from places all over the area."

The people gasp as they all look at Joan for answers. Suddenly, Joan's security brought out two masked people. She unmasks them and it's Lonnie and Max. "Tell them, now!" Joan says.

"They," Max sighs. "Javi and his people raided us. That prompted us to attack them. They stole from us first!"

"Max!" Javi says. "Tell the fucking truth!"

"Javi, I'm sorry!" Max says. Lonnie remains quiet.

"Lonnie?" Javi asks. Lonnie doesn't speak which seems odd to Javi. 

"You are lying about my name and scaring the people of Richmond!" Joan speaks. "I will not tolerate this anymore." The guards bring out more people. This time, it's David. David's head is placed in a rope as they prepare to hang him. "We can't afford to keep traitors around. It'll only drag the rest of us down."

Suddenly, gunshots can be heard outside the gate. The guards on watch immediately open the gate. "Who the hell is there?" Joan says.

People flood in on horses wearing armor. Javi smiles as he sees Jesus arrive, leading the pack. They swarm the stage Joan is on.

"Joan, this is over!" Jesus says. "We are tired of you raiding communities. It all ends here!"

The crowd gasps again, this time looking back at Joan. 

"They are right, Joan!" Clint speaks up. "You've been demanding the day you were in power. You said all of this was for the future of Richmond, but all you have done is put down the people that didn't have the power to stop you."

"I'm telling the truth!" Joan says as sweat rolls down her face.

"She is!" A voice calls out from the crowd. Everyone turns to see Eleanor, looking down.

"No..." Javi says.

"She's telling the truth!" Eleanor says which causes Joan to smile. 

"Eleanor, we are here RIGHT NOW because her people attacked us at the Junkyard and wounded Kate. They killed my niece!" 

"What?" Someone from the crowd speaks.

"That's fucked up!" Another one says.

"SHE WAS MINDING HER BUSINESS," Javi screams as tears flood his eyes. "AN INNOCENT LITTLE GIRL WHO WAS JUST HAPPY TO HAVE HER CASSETTE TAPE BACK AND BOOM YOUR PEOPLE SHOT HER."
