He was about to walk away from the gathering. But before he could take another step, he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. Adrien turned around, surprised to see Sabine standing there, holding something in her hands. Her eyes were filled with tears, but there was also a glimmer of hope in them.
"Adrien," she said softly, her voice quivering, "I want you to have this."
She handed him a small leather-bound diary, the same one Marinette had used to write down her thoughts and dreams. Adrien looked at it in surprise, his heart skipping a beat.
"Marinette's diary," Sabine explained, her voice filled with emotion. "She cherished this journal, and she poured her heart into it. There are thoughts and feelings in there that she never got a chance to share with you."
Adrien took the diary, his hands trembling slightly. "Thank you, Sabine," he managed to say, his voice catching in his throat.
"I thought you should have it," Sabine said, offering him a sad smile. "She would want you to know everything, to understand how much you meant to her."
Adrien nodded, a mix of emotions swirling inside him. He wanted to know everything, to feel even closer to Marinette, but he also felt a sense of fear. What if there were things in there that would break his heart even more?
He stared down at it, gulping as he held onto a heavy book full of pages filled with Marinette's presence. "I don't know what to say. Thank you for giving me this. It means... it means so much to me."
Sabine placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, her eyes filled with compassion. "I know how much you loved her, Adrien, and I believe she loved you just as deeply. She would want you to remember the love you shared and to find a way to heal, even in her absence."
Adrien nodded, feeling a lump forming in his throat. "I'll cherish this forever," he said, clutching the package close to his heart.
As they stood together, the sun dipping lower on the horizon, Adrien felt a profound sense of gratitude for the Dupain-Cheng family. They had welcomed him into their lives with open arms, and even in the face of their own grief, they had shown him kindness and support.
"I should get going," Adrien said, wiping away a tear. "But I'll never forget Marinette, and I'll never forget what your family means to me."
Sabine smiled softly, her eyes shimmering with tears. "You will always have a place in our hearts, Adrien. Marinette loved you, and you are a part of our family too."
With a final nod of thanks, Adrien turned and walked away from the grave, the package holding Marinette's diary clutched tightly in his hand.

After the funeral, Adrien returned home with a heavy heart. The weight of grief and the diary Marinette had left him felt like an anchor, dragging him deeper into the sea of sorrow. As he entered his room, he clutched the diary tightly in his hand, his emotions swirling with a mix of longing and trepidation.
Sitting at his desk, Adrien placed the diary in front of him. His heart ached to know the thoughts and feelings Marinette had poured into those pages, yet he couldn't bring himself to open it. The fear of discovering something that would break him further was too daunting.
"I should read it," Adrien whispered to himself, his voice barely audible. "Marinette wanted me to understand, to know how she felt. But I'm so afraid, Plagg. What if I can't handle it?"
Plagg, who had been floating nearby, his usual mischievous demeanor subdued by grief, looked at Adrien with empathy in his eyes. He understood the pain his friend was going through; after all, Marinette had been not just Ladybug, but also a dear friend to him, a soulmate to Adrien, and a best friend to his partner in crime, Tikki.
"Adrien," Plagg said softly, "it's okay to be scared. Losing someone you love is never easy, and reading the diary might bring up emotions you're not ready to face. Take your time, kid. There's no rush."
Tears welled up in Adrien's eyes as he looked at his Kwami. "But what if Marinette's words hold the answers I'm searching for? What if they reveal how much pain she was in, and I wasn't there to help her?"
Plagg floated closer, wrapping his tiny arms around Adrien's finger. "You were there for her, Adrien. You loved her deeply, and she knew that. Sometimes, pain is a private battle, and even the ones we love can't fully understand or alleviate it. What matters is that you brought her happiness and love in the time you shared."
Adrien nodded, absorbing Plagg's words like a lifeline. He knew his Kwami was right, but the guilt weighed heavily on his heart. He felt like he should have done more like he should have known how much Marinette was struggling.
"Plagg, I miss her so much," Adrien confessed, his voice breaking with emotion. "It feels like a part of me is missing, and I don't know how to move forward."
Plagg stared blankly at Adrien, he didn't know what to do or how to comfort Adrien or himself.

Adrien, now dressed as Cat Noir, sat on a rooftop, his heart heavy with emotions as he clutched Marinette's diary close to his chest. He had struggled to bring himself to read it, hoping that Ladybug would bring him the courage he needed or perhaps even read it with him. But she hadn't shown up, and the weight of loneliness settled over him like a shroud.
Feeling the need to talk to someone, anyone, he decided to call Ladybug through his baton. He dialed her number, hoping that she would pick up and lend him a listening ear. But, once again, the call went straight to voicemail. Cat Noir took a deep breath before leaving a message, his voice laced with a mix of vulnerability and desperation, "Hey Bugab- Ladybug, I know it's really early to start patrol, but I really need someone to talk to right now... It's about Marinette."
He hung up, his tail to his suit wagging and swaying, but there was a sense of sadness and loneliness in the way it moved. He waited, hoping that Ladybug would hear his message and come to his side. Minutes turned into hours, and still, there was no sign of her.
Realizing it was now well past the time their patrol should have started, Cat Noir's heart sank. He knew Ladybug had responsibilities and duties, but he couldn't shake the feeling of abandonment and isolation. With a heavy heart, he decided to carry out the patrol alone.
The patrol itself was uneventful, but it felt empty without Ladybug by his side, her comforting presence and camaraderie noticeably absent. Cat Noir fought off akumas and completed his usual duties as a hero, but his mind kept drifting back to the void he felt.
Finally, as the night wore on, Cat Noir's yearning for someone to talk to, for someone who truly understood him, grew too strong to ignore.
-
He made his way back to the cemetery, the place where Marinette's gravestone stood, the one person who had always been there for him and who had known him better than anyone else, even Ladybug.
Seated next to the gravestone, Cat Noir hesitated before opening Marinette's diary. He knew he needed to confront his feelings, to find the strength to read her thoughts and understand her love for him. Taking a deep breath, he began to flip to the first page, absorbing the essence of her words.A/N: Thank you for reading
