It's Alright, Darling (pt. 2)

Jackson's reflexes kicked in and he reached out and caught the girl. She fumbled a quick apology but he gave her a look and replied, "It's alright, darling."

The stranger looked up at him with dark brown doe eyes, and smiled, embarrassment dotting her cheeks with red. He studied her appearance quickly. Dark black hair in a messy bun, a blue sweatshirt and mom jeans. Jeremiah rolled his eyes and muttered, clumsy human.

She looked up at him and mumbled out, "Thank you... what's your name again?"

He gave her a blank stare before replying, "Jeremiah."

She beamed and said, "Thanks for the catch. I'll see you around, maybe."

He watched as she exited the metal doors of the school, and his mind went back to El. Jeremiah glanced back at her classroom, and could hear her shrieks of joy. A smile took over his face, before he settled back to his normal stare. He quickly walked down the halls, the sun blinding him for a moment. He looked down at his watch and saw that he had 17 minutes before homeroom began.

Jeremiah sped down the road in silence, and pulled into the high school parking lot. His previous high school, Eastaughffe Private Academy, had been huge, but the 5 buildings of this new high school-college joint, Xavier Point Valley Academy, was enormous. The logo, duc exercitum, which is Latin for 'lead the way', which was plastered on his suit jacket, along with the school's logo, was seen on a banner hanging from the school's steps.

He breathed a sigh of relief, and walked into the already crowding hallway. Jeremiah had already attended XPVA for 3 weeks, but he still had a little trouble managing his way through the 5 separate buildings which mingled the high school with the college.

Jeremiah's locker was 2 times the size of a normal highschool locker, but it was barely filled with items. His books were thick, but only took up one shelf. The second shelf had stationary which he didn't use, because of his MacBook Air and iPad Pro M2. His third shelf had his sheet music and the last shelf had extra uniforms, incase an emergency. Jeremiah grabbed his AP Calculus BC book, and rushed to his homeroom.

He sat down in his usual seat, in the back middle, with his deskmate seat to the left empty. That way he wouldn't call attention to himself and he didn't need to talk to anyone. Students were already chattering away, couples were drooling over each other, and the teacher had just walked in. Ms. Audrees had started roll call. Jeremiah muttered, "Present," and looked down. The called a couple of names before she announced, "Camilla Wei?"

Silence filled the classrooms, and everyone's heads began to turn. Camilla was apparently not in class. The teacher was about to mouth another name before the door burst open. A raven hair girl in the school uniform of a black and white plaid pleated skirt, a black sweater vest with a white button up under, and a black tie walked into the classroom. She stared wide eyed at the rest of the classroom and profusely apologized.

"Hi, I'm Camilla. I'm so sorry for being late. I had to drop off my family member, then traffic happened, and then I couldn't find my way and-"

"That's perfectly fine, Miss Camilla. I know you're newer to the school, and the building is freakishly huge. I'll let it slip this time, but next time it happens, I won't be so forgiving."

Camilla bowed her head and looked around for a desk that had a free seat. Most people had one, well, except for Jeremiah. She quickly scurried to the seat and slid in.

Jeremiah side-eyed Camilla, before fixing his gaze on Ms. Audrees.

Camilla gave him a warm grin and whispered, "I'm Camilla. HOLY SCHNITZEL, JEREMIAH?"

He scowled and whispered under his breath, "Pay attention."

She gave him a grin and pulled out a notebook. Jeremiah heard her furious scribbles, but kept his eyes on Ms. Audrees. She was giving out the permission forms for the trip to Maryland. He felt a piece of paper being slid under his iPad, and she nudged him.

He rolled his eyes and slid the paper back to her. She gave him an insistent look and he sighed. He opened the paper, and to his surprised, bubbly letters spelled out her message.

"i had no idea we went to the same school!! I like your eyes, btw."

He was taken aback by the eyes comment, but he politely asked for her pen, and scribbled back a message.

  "Small world, huh. Thanks."

The bell suddenly rang and it was off to the first class. Camilla started to talk to Jeremiah but he quickly replied, "Sorry, I don't want to be late to my first morning class," and smirked as he walked away.

Making his way through the halls and to the next building, he passed professors who were making their way out of meetings, couples who were making out against the lockers, students in groups laughing, and his stare hardened. School was for learning. He paced to the next building and slipped into his classroom. He had barely noticed, but the past few weeks, only about 15 other students were actually in AP Calculus BC. He quickly slid into the desk near the back and put on his headphones. Class didn't start for another 10 minutes, but he had nothing else to do.

     Camilla POV

Camilla had tried to talk to the handsome stranger who had caught her, but he seemed of the silent type. She had already bumped into him earlier, and he had caught her. She almost fainted when she looked up at this gorgeous human being. He was so-

     HONK HONK HONKKKKKKKKKK

The car behind her demanded her to move up about 4 inches. "SHUT UP IDIOT. TRAFFIC IS TOO DAMN SLOW AND I CAN ONLY MOVE 4 INCHES. THERE'S NOT MUCH YOU CAN DO WITH FOUR INCHES YOU SMALL-"

   BEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

The car's horn managed to blur out her nasty insults, and she gave him the finger.

After traffic cleared, she sped to her new school and quickly ran to class, her book bag half unzipped. She heard her name being called in the classroom as she straightened herself out, and she burst into the room. The teacher quickly assured her she was okay for now, and she looked for a seat. Everyone stared back, and she suddenly spotted an empty seat.

Camilla quickly sat down and glanced at her deskmate before she realized it was the gorgeous stranger from earlier, Jeremiah. She had tried to talk to him, but he seemed to ignore her and focused on the teacher. Maybe he's got a thing for the teacher? As class ended, Camilla piped up, and asked Jeremiah, "So where you from- Oh. He just left. Damn it, he ignored me. What a loser." He had quickly walked out and disappeared into a wave of people. She rolled her eyes and pulled out her class schedule, to see what room she'd be in.

Camilla quickly sped to the school's cafe, which had a couple of fast food bars. She quickly fished out her credit card and paid for her iced caramel latte. She ran on coffee and she smiled as she walked to her next class. She walked into the seemingly empty classroom and was met eye to eye with....
