POV Oliver

"Oliver..?" A soft voice, barely above a whisper, jolted me back to awareness. I opened my eyes to find Y/N stirring, their gaze locking with mine.

My eyes widened in shock as the soft voice reached my ears, and I turned my gaze towards the source of the sound. I was rendered speechless, unable to form any words as my mind struggled to comprehend what was happening.

With trembling hands, I reached out and took hold of their hand, gently squeezing it as though trying to convey my presence and support in every possible way: "I am here."

"Y/N?" I finally managed to choke out the word, my voice uncertain, questioning whether this could be real or merely a dream, a figment of my imagination.

To my astonishment, their weakened hand responded, slowly returning the squeeze. My breath caught in my throat, my heart pounding with hope.

"Y/N?" I repeated their name, this time more assured, seeking confirmation that they were truly there.

Their e/c eyes shifted from the ceiling to meet my gaze, exhaustion evident even though they had been asleep for what felt like an eternity. I couldn't believe it. Could this be real? Am I not dreaming?

They shook their head slightly, their voice raspy and barely above a whisper, as they confirmed, "I'm.. back." Those words, laden with weariness, sent a rush of emotions surging through me, and tears of relief and joy welled up in my eyes.

"You are.. you are awake..!" I exclaimed, rising from my chair with a mix of excitement and caution. My hands trembled as I cupped their face gently, trying to absorb the reality of the moment. A bright, genuine smile adorned my lips, reflecting the purity of my happiness.

With an outpouring of emotions, I pulled them into a tight embrace, my heart overflowing with relief and joy. "I thought.. I thought you would never wake up," I confessed softly, feeling a pang of shame for having doubted their recovery.

"It's fine.. Oliver, too tight.." They struggled to respond, and I loosened my grip, apologizing with a shy smile. "Sorry.. didn't mean to hug you to death.. I'm just.. happy."

Their lips curved slightly, a glimmer of light returning to their eyes. Curiosity crept in, and they asked, "How long have I been asleep?" We shared a lingering look, and I hesitated before answering, "A while."

"The mask," They suddenly seem to remember. "Where is it?" They tried to stand up.

I shut the attempt quickly down, pushing them back into bed, urging them to calm down. "Shh, calm down. It's fine. Everything is alright." I reassure them.

"No, I need to talk to Lucas." They struggled, but years in a coma had weakened their muscles, so it was pretty easy to get them to lie down.

"Y/N. You've been for the past 2 years in a coma. Please, stay in bed. You need to rest and go easy from now on." I try to calm them down. But this causing shock to wash over them, and they stopped struggling.

"For 2 years..?" they questioned, their voice laced with disbelief. I took a deep breath, nodding in confirmation. "If it is really important for you to talk to Lucas, I'll go and get him. Alright?" I suggested, hoping to shift their focus from the overwhelming revelation. They silently nodded, their gaze fixated on a distant point.

As we settled into the moment, Zack's voice echoed through the room, breaking the silence. "Oliver, I forgot-" He entered the room and froze in his tracks as he looked at Y/N, a mix of confusion and shock on his face.

"Am I seeing things?" he questioned, trying to make sense of the situation. I shook my head, and Y/N did the same, affirming that this was indeed real.

"Jesus.. welcome back. Took you long enough," Zack muttered, a hint of amusement in his voice despite his astonishment. He walked up to us and asked, "Is it ok if I check your vitals?" They gave him a small nod, and Zack began his examination.

"Is it ok with you guys if I just leave you here and quickly grab Lucas?" I questioned, wanting to inform our friend about the miraculous development. Without waiting for an answer, I started walking towards the door.

"Yeah, sure. He will be happy about the news," Zack replied, focusing on his task while I rushed to find Lucas. Bursting into his room, I found him close to falling asleep at his table.

"Oliver! Everything alright? Do you need something?" Lucas started in a concerned tone, but it quickly turned into worry when he saw the urgency in my eyes.

"I- just.." I struggled to find the right words to convey the news. Instead, I gestured down the hall, urging him to follow me.

Lucas stood up immediately, determined to understand what was going on. "Show me," he commanded, and I swiftly led him back to Y/N's room, eager to share the astonishing development.

Zack skillfully drew some blood from Y/N, conducting a thorough examination by checking their blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.

"So far, so good. I have to look at your blood values to make completely sure you are fine, though," Zack replied, standing up as we all entered the room.

Lucas was overcome with emotion, dropping his cane at the sight of Y/N. "I'm so happy.." he tried to speak up, but his voice broke. Slowly walking closer, Y/N pulled him into a tight embrace, conveying their presence and assuring him of their well-being.

"How are you feeling?" Lucas asked, genuine concern etched on his face.

"I'm fine, feeling a bit weak. But fine," Y/N responded, their voice sounding thin but filled with relief. Lucas nodded, understanding, as he gently ran his hand over their hair, offering a comforting touch.

"I am glad you are awake," Lucas said, trailing off into his own thoughts. "You should probably try to eat something and regain your strength back."

Zack nodded in agreement. "I will talk to Paula and Pepe and ask if they can prepare some easily digestible food, and then I'm going to look at the test results from your blood values," he explained. "I'll be right back."

Zack left the room, leaving the three of us in the small and dimly lit space, our emotions still high as we savored the miracle of Y/N's awakening.

"Leuvis.. he is toying with us," Y/N's voice broke the silence, immediately capturing Lucas and my full attention.

"What do you mean?" I asked, a mix of curiosity and frustration evident in my tone. Leuvis had always been one to play mind games, nothing new there.

"When you found me.. Leuvis was still there, making sure you saw who did it, wasn't he?" Y/N's question left me contemplating the memory, and I nodded in response.

"How did that make you feel?" they asked calmly, causing me to frown slightly. What are they trying to get at?

"Sad, panicked, shocked.. anger," I started to think out loud, recalling the emotions that surged within me during that intense moment. Y/N nodded, seemingly satisfied with my response.

"Exactly. He wanted to make sure you would go after him filled with rage. He tried to manipulate you to get what he wanted: his fair hunt, which I didn't plan on giving him. He expected that I would give you the information I had," Y/N dropped the bombshell, and even Lucas nodded in agreement.

"That's why he hasn't attended a single hunt since then," Lucas added, understanding the depth of Leuvis's calculated actions to provoke and manipulate us.
