Chapter 7

Techno spends hours on end worrying about Tommy. As soon as he had brought the kid home, he had given him some medicine and started to bandage up all his cuts and bruises, but the kid doesn't seem to be getting better. In fact, he only gets worse. 

Techno had never noticed it before, but now he sees how skinny Tommy his, how little he ate, the bags under his eyes.

The kid is still terrified of doing anything wrong, and no matter how much Techno assures him that Tommy was family, and that he would never get rid of him, Tommy still apologises for everything, scared Techno would send him away. 

Techno is stunned to see him go from chaotic menace like when they would fight villains together to "Is it alright if I use the shower?" 

"Tommy this is your home as much as it is mine," 

And after a week of this arrangement, Wilbur shows up on Techno's doorstep, crying, begging Techno to help him look for Tommy. Tommy is confused as he listens to their conversation from his hiding place in his room, unsure if Wilbur actually means it when he says that he didn't mean to, and that he would do anything to know that his 'little brother' was safe. 

There was a knock at the door and Tommy froze, turning to Techno and looking at him uncertainly. 

"Tech," Wilbur's voice called from outside, "Please... let me in..." His voice cracked. 

Tommy shot Techno a look that meant 'Don't let him know i'm here. Or else.' before scampering off to hide in his room. 

Techno opened the door slowly to reveal a crying, sleep deprived, absolute mess that was Wilbur on his doorstep. 

"Tech I can't find him," Wilbur sobbed, "It's all my fault," 

"Hey kid it's alright, come in," Techno said, going immediately into his overprotective big brother mode, opening the door wider to let Wilbur in.

Wilbur shuffled in meekly, as Techno led him to the sofa. 

"I've looked everywhere, Tech, and I can't find him. It was so stupid, I wouldn't have done it if i knew. I'm so fucking stupid." He cried, as Techno consoled him. "I just want him to be ok, I wish it had never happened. Tech I just want my little brother back," He let out a desperate sob, his voice shaking. Techno rubbed his back, and noticed how thin Wilbur was, almost as if he hadn't been eating. Techno knew that Wilbur used to suffer with an eating disorder, and was hit with a wave of concern. 

"Hey Wil, when was the last time you ate?" Techno asked him, calmly. 

"Uhh..." Wilbur sniffed and looked away, "A few days ago," He whispered, "I... I feel so guilty Tech,"

"You still gotta eat," Techno said gruffly, "And Wilbur, for what it's worth, you made a mistake, you may be the reason Tommy has disappeared, but it isn't your fault." He turned away, going to grab some food from the kitchen and leaving Wilbur to ponder his words.
