Chapter 16- Fixed

'There...'

'There he is...'

The boss stood in front of me as I laid tied to the hospital bed, I felt the excruciating pain of every whip he had beaten into me.

"You can never leave!"

I jolt up in a panic, feeling harsh stings in my wounds as my body couldn't help but tense in fear.

The feeling managed to fade as I found myself in a bed and dressed in fresh comfy clothes. I couldn't help but place my palm on my back as I felt an agonising ache.

'I'm in Liu's room...

...why am I in his room?

How?

Is this some kind of sick joke?

Haven't I been tortured enough?'

The door creaked open as Nathan walked in holding a glass of water. He instantly placed down the glass and sat on the edge of the bed by my side after seeing me awake.

"Hey, are you okay?" I feel him place his hand on my upper back.

'Was he really here?'

My fingers trace along his extended arm and I couldn't help but well up with tears in disbelief.

"You're actually real?" I ask in a shaky tone, Nathan couldn't help but wipe his nearly formed tears with his free hand, he was sure not to let me see.

"I'm here don't worry" he told me as he allowed me to lean into him.

"It wasn't real...none of you were real" I mutter.

"We're real I promise..." he assured me calmly.

"Are the others here?" I ask him as I pull away.

"Yeah" he glanced down as he did one last quick sniffle, then quickly back up at me. "They're downstairs, but you don't need to see anyone yet if you're not ready."

"It's okay, i don't mind" I tell him "I just need need to know I'm not making this up"

"It is" he assured me once more "I'll go get the others to come see you okay?" He gave me a gentle stroke on my hair.

"Wait" I instantly became concerned "the other girls?!"

"It's okay, i got the feds to swarm the place it's been cleared out, they're all safe"

He asked more questions and got more information out of me, I told him everything the best I could, I mentioned my hallucinations, the punishments I had received and other scarring events on how I was treated. He then proceeded to help me lie back down before leaving the room.

Nathan POV

Nathan made his way downstairs to the others where they were all waiting anxiously.

"How is she?" Masky asked him, he could sense a hint of worry in his tone.

"She's awake... she trying but she isn't doing good. Her memories are all over the place, she's been suffering hallucinations, hateful ones of us...the last thing she remembered when she was last alive was when she was 'being murdered' by you guys" he air quoted.

"What? Wait- when I was performing emergency surgery on her?" Jack questioned in disbelief.

"That's the thing, she's struggling to remember, she just thinks that you murdered her, but a part of her is also telling her it's not true and she's just feeling really confused and conflicted"

"This is bad..." Liu muttered under his breath as masky paced to the end of the room, he wrapped his hands at the back of his neck feeling stressed as he leaned against the wall.

"She wants to see you guys, to make sure it's real"

"Okay let's go" Liu gestured.

The group dispersed, everyone went up to Sally except EJ who went outside not looking happy. Hoodie noticed this and decided to follow him to which Nathan watched them carefully out the window.

"What's going on?" Hoodie asked bluntly as he went down the front steps towards EJ.

"It's just-" he said trying to keep himself in his usual blunt manner, but it was hard. "She thinks I killed her? She's actually convinced in her mind that I murdered her!"

"She's been without oxygen for over a month the blood couldn't have protected her from everything, her memories appear different but we'll help her to clear them eventually" hoodie informed

"It just hurts" he began "I still love her, I'd never hurt her"

Hoodie couldn't help but turn away as he tried to suppress a painful chest cough but failed.  "Pull yourself together" He demanded after he cleared his throat, he turned back to him "go up there and see her, clear things up between you because I'm sure she'd still appreciate seeing you"

It took a few moments but EJ finally gave a light nod and hesitantly made his way to inside. As EJ went inside the door Nathan decided to step out.

Hoodie kept his eyes on Jack until the door shut then continued to look out into the woods as Nathan walked up next to him.

"I've had the building invaded. The rest of the girls will be taken out of there, returned to their families and given the help they need."

"And?" Hoodie questioned.

"And what?" Nathan argued with a shrug.

"You came out here to tell me something else, it's obvious" hoodie grunted.

"I just wanted to thank you... for helping to get her back. I may hate you but a part of me will always be grateful as his hand rested upon his arm. "Seriously. Thank you." he told him before walking away.

Hoodie continued to stand alone as he took off his mask. Nathan didn't realise the effect of his words that they held on hoodie.
He was in so much pain, he was growing weaker by the day. Now he found himself growing more attached to Nathan and he hated every moment, this wasn't he who was.
He couldn't help but spit blood onto the dirt beneath him as he crouched down losing strength in his muscles.
