Guys I just wanted to thank all of you like every vote, comment etc like it for real, I'm being so real rn, it means so much to me like you all make me laugh and smile and after bad days or worrying about school and stuff, I can always come here and you all turn my day around. The chirp of morning birds sounded through the cracked window. A faint breeze caressed the air and the sun's glowing rays cast the room in a soft light.
You stifled a yawn and blinked to keep the tiredness at bay. You stayed awake most of the night taking care of your love. Tanjiro was sick. He had a high fever and was burning up or shivering the whole night. You stayed to cool him down or warm him up; fetching water, bringing blankets... You couldn't bear to see him like this.
But now, he seemed to be better. He had managed to fall asleep and was currently sleeping peacefully. The sun kissed his gentle features: his cheeks, lips, and hair. You reached out and cupped his cheek. He shifted and leaned into your touch. A soft sigh escaped his lips.
You smiled. He was absolutely perfect. So beautiful inside and out. You couldn't imagine a word without him. If it was him or the sun, you'd have to live in darkness. You loved him, so so much.
The morning rose higher and eventually, he stirred.
"Y/n...?" He mumbled, blinking awake. You dropped your hand from his cheek and took his hand.
"Yes, love? Are you okay?" You brought your other hand over his and squeezed gently. His eyes found yours; his kind, warm, and gentle eyes. There was so much fondness swirling in them. To him, your very presence was making him feel better. And to you, his well-being made your heart race.
For awhile, you two remained quiet in the comfortable silence of love. Your thumb drew back and forth over the top of his hand. But you drew away to get his medicine. You pressed the cup to his lips.
"Say ahh..."
He drank slowly and after, you gave him some water which he greatfully consumed. You leaned close to wipe his mouth with a handkerchief.
Seeing him up close, he was so adorable. Caring for him like this made your heart pound. A newfound love unveiled in your chest.
"I love you Tanjiro." You pressed a kiss to his forehead. A weak smile made it's way to his lips. He feebly pulled you closer.
"I love you more Y/n..." His lips brushed yours before he kissed you.
You sighed and reciprocated gently. He was warm but in the comforting way you adored. You smiled when he pulled you to envelop you in an embrace. He buried his face in your shoulder.
While holding him, you leaned back to bring him into your arms. His hands tightened around your waist. He was so close you could feel his heart against your own.
"Y/n, I love you." He whispered. "I love you so much."
You soothingly brushed through his hair and began rocking him gently. He absolutely melted in your arms. You closed your eyes and smiled. To have him like this was all you could ever want.
You rested your head against his, and enjoyed his warmth. The birds sang outside.
As the day continued, you remained. He had dozed off again, lulled by your rocking. The rise and fall of his breathing almost made you fall asleep too. His hair tickled your cheek, the warm scent of pine and lavender something you loved. Your heart was so full of him.
You wanted nothing to hurt him. You never wanted to see his smile leave his face.
And there was no other place you'd rather be than with him.
