Obsidian black ink swirled across the paper in hordes of equations and hieroglyphic letters. You had sat dutifully at your desk for hours rigorously studying for your last finals of the year. You could almost taste the sweet freedom of summer back home in your comfortable space with no roommates, no communal showers no nothing. It was going to be blissful. However, you couldn't think about the future; you had to focus on the now. And right now your head was close to exploding. Just a couple more days and you'd be free. But those days seemed akin to years. You held your head in your hands and sighed deeply.

Just as you were about to continue with your studies, a knock tapped at your dorm door. You sat up, wondering who could possibly be bothering you right now. Curiously, you arose and crept over to the peephole and looked out. Your heart began racing tenfold when your eyes were greeted with the sight of burgundy hair and nervous wine hues. A sweatshirt covered arm fell from the knocking before reaching to mess with his hair. You smiled at his shy mannerisms and eagerly opened the door.

"Tanjiro!" You exclaimed. He perked up with a wide delighted smile from hearing your warm voice. The paper wrapped around the bouquet of flowers he held crinkled in his arms. Your eyes widened in surprise.

"I thought you could use a break...?" He bashfully suggested, rocking on the heels of his shoes. He handed the flora to you.

"And I brought these for you, an early 'ace your exam' present, you know?" He met your eyes with an encouraging expression. "You're going to do great, honey there's no need to worry." He took back the flowers in order to embrace you in a tender hug. Seemingly, all your worries disappeared within the warm arms of your secret lover. These past weeks, ever since that day in his dorm, you two had been inseparable... at least in the secluded confines of your own privacy. In the backgrounds of your mind, you were still deeply worried about public image. So, with your boundaries, you had come to a comfortable ground with your affections with Tanjiro. And being head over heels for you, he respectfully agreed to uphold your wishes.

But it was hard.

He loved you so much that it pained him to not let the world know the extent of his heart. He wishes to kiss and hug and touch you without worrying about others. It was exactly why the nights you two spent together you almost got suffocated by his sheer wants. He was a strong independent character but at any chance he could get, he'd rather pamper and shower you with affection until you couldn't breathe. He always wanted to show you just how much he cared for you— it was exactly why he was here. He wanted to spend time with you. Together. As a couple.

He rocked you gently, never letting go until you wished— which wasn't anytime soon. He was so warm and inviting you didn't want to let go. The calming scent of sage and eucalyptus wafted from his soft pullover, of which you buried your face in. His hands rested heavily over your waist, pulling you in until all space was diminished. He breathed slowly in tune with you, seemingly guiding you to resonate with him. And it worked, you closed your eyes and just, stayed there with him. Everything could wait: school, studying, life. As right now, there wasn't any other place you'd rather be.

"Hey... do you, maybe want to go to dinner with me?" His voice rang through his chest in a soft register that caressed your auditory functioning. He was like listening to waves lap at a sandy shore during a sunset; when the sun burst into colors of fuchsia, plum, and amarillo reflected in the water's mirror. It took you a moment to respond; you were too lost in his body and his voice. He patiently waited, relaxing into your hold and resting his head against yours. Finally, you gained your cognitive abilities and pulled away. But not too far so that your arms still rested around his shoulders and his lingered on your waist. You complete leaned into him. He kissed your cheek.
