Chapter 20
ARMANDO FEROSA
Armando Ferosa sat with his councilors as they discussed the latest developments over the last couple of weeks. His counselor, which included Alisano Nesaris, one of his oldest friends, sat to his left, followed by his Bravo. And on the other side were two other key holders of the Iron Bank, Panthor Derkins and Ellen Flement. He had known these gentlemen for years, and they had been instrumental in helping him become the Sea Lord.
Armando smiled at his oldest friend Alisano, as he decided to skip all the small talk and just get on with the reason for their special gathering.
"So, I believe at this point all of you have heard of what happened in Westeros a week ago?" he began, and the three members nodded. Of course, they had heard. Compared to Bravos, Westeros was a land of savages, yet it was necessary to keep an eye on happenings there, for that land was also home to the last remaining vestiges of Valyria itself.
"Indeed, we have, and it seems that the young Prince Aenys felled Vhagar," began Panthor as his oldest friend added from the side.
"There are also reports of very big differences forming between him and his family; I have heard that the Prince has vowed never to step back there again," asked Alisano from the side before he suddenly frowned as he added.
"Didn't the Prince come to meet you a couple of days ago? I have also heard that there was a lady with him, someone that hasn't been seen in Bravos previously?" and Armando noticed how all three were now looking at him for the answers.
The Sealord nodded as he began.
"It is true that the Prince came to visit me a couple of days ago. And we did talk a bit about what happened in Westeros, and I was able to confirm that the Prince has indeed slain Vhagar," and there were gasps as he confirmed the news. And why wouldn't there be?
Vhagar, the brown beast, was the second-largest dragon alive after the Black Dread. The giant beast was said to be large enough to devour Auroch whole. And now it was gone. Dead at the hands of a Prince famed for his prowess as a healer instead of his prowess as a fighter.
"And what about the strife between him and King Viserys?" questioned Panthor, and Armando nodded.
"That was a rather delicate topic, but from what I could understand, those rumors are also somewhat true. The brothers have had a falling out, and it is probable that Prince Aenys won't return to Westeros again," and he saw their minds race as they tried to process the implication of that decision. And Armando waited for a couple of seconds before he continued.
"And your second question brings me to why I called for this meeting?" and he saw them perk up at his words. For Prince Aenys hadn't returned alone this time and had brought someone rather interesting with himself.
"When the Prince came to visit me, he was joined by a rather lovely lady. A lady whom the Prince intends to marry in a couple of months," and he saw their eyes widen at his words. And Armando had been surprised as well. It was no secret that Lady Maegella, god bless her departed soul, had been trying to get the Prince settled before her untimely demise. Truth was that he and other elites of Bravos had been trying to do something similar, for having a dragon-riding Prince with wealth and influence like that was no small matter. It was also the reason they had nudged the Poetess towards the Prince, hoping that perhaps her ignominious beauty could sway the Prince's heart.
"Who was she?" questioned Sarmind, and Armando waited a second before he told them the name of the lady that the Prince intended to marry.
"She is Lady Alicent Hightower, and from my investigations, the Prince fought a duel wagering his Valyrian Steel sword for her hand, and from what I saw, she holds considerable influence on Aenys," and he saw them frown at his words.
