"pretty decent place you've got yourself, hyung" his little brother, jeongin grinned, allowing his braces to shine through. hyunjin ruffled his curls in return.

"thanks, innie,". hyunjin was proud of himself. after enduring the toxicity of his household, with the exception of his little brother, he was happy to separate himself and live independently.

he knew something was off the moment he felt his ear itch. turning around, he was faced with a teary eyed boy.

jeongin instantly ran into the older, enveloping him into a hug. "i'm gonna miss you, hyung. i don't know what i'm going to do without you," he sobbed into his shirt. hyunjin sighed. he was ready for this, or at least he should've been.

"please don't cry, jeongin, it'll only make this harder for me," he said as he swayed him around. his love for the younger was unmeasurable. if it weren't for him, hyunjin wouldn't know where he'd be today.

"we'll call everyday, and you can always visit me as you please, you know my door will forever and always be open to you," he continued, as he pulled the other away from his chest and looked into his eyes.

jeongin laughed lightly and nodded his head yes. "of course, hyung! my window will always remain open for you to sneak in,".

as if on cue, their parents started beeping their horn from outside. frowning, jeongin looked up at his brother one last time.

"i have to go" hyunjin sent him an understanding smile.

"go get 'em, tiger! i love you, don't forget that" the younger smiled and hugged him one last time before racing out the door. waiting until his family was no longer in view, he closed the door softly and took in his surroundings.

he was home. this was now home to him. it was scary to say the least; change is scary. he was fresh out of college, no clue as to what direction to take on, and on top of that, he was alone.

"have to get used to this," he kept repeating to himself over and over for comfort. it wasn't working in the slightly.

there were boxes everywhere, and he started feeling overwhelmed by how crowded it was in his home. he needed to step out.

slipping on his shoes, and a light sweater, he opened his door, leaving it slightly open as he sat down on his steps. he watched as a car would pass by every now and then, as well as the occasional couple that would pass by his house while walking their dog.

it was a nice neighborhood and it seemed like everyone minded their own business. hyunjin enjoyed that. much different from his loud, busy childhood home.

as he began counting the pebbles that stood beside his right foot, he heard the sound of a door swing open. turning his head, he caught view of a boy, one who seemed relatively around the same age of him along with his white cat.

he wore glasses that had slid down the bridge of his nose, as he walked out and went to sit down on his lawn, close by his steps as he started planting a small patch of flowers that he most likely collected from a nearby flower shop.

hyunjin watched in silence, as the boy experienced difficulty with the small task he went out to do. he would take note of how the boy would pout and turn to his cat, as if expressing his frustrations. eventually, when he finally got the flowers to stand, he jumped up excitedly and grabbed his cat, spinning it around in the air.

hyunjin giggled as he watched the boy. he was relieved to know the other didn't hear him as he happily dusted off his sweatpants and skipped back inside, cat still in hand.

he knew from that moment on, he needed to know who this boy was.

sorry for any typos hehe
