"you didn't leave anything behind, did you?" hyunjin asked his younger brother. jeongin stood in place, thinking over all his belongings before nodding his head no.
"ok, mom texted me that she'll be here in a couple of minutes. please don't hesitate to call or text me if you need me, I'll come by as quick as possible," hyunjin ran over with the younger. jeongin nodded, letting him know that he understood.
and just like that, they heard beeping from outside the door. jeongin pulled hyunjin into a tight hug, similar to the one he gave him when he first moved in.
"bye hyung," he whispered against his chest.
pulling away, he walked towards the door. "please let seungmin hyung and jisung hyung know that I said bye as well," he said over his shoulder as he walked out the door and shut it behind him.
he couldn't help feeling a bit sad when he had to watch the younger go. he knew that jeongin hated it at home just as much as he did.
cleaning up the scattered dishes around the living room that the younger left behind, hyunjin hummed to himself. today was going to be boring. he had no place to be and he didn't really feel like doing anything that requested a big amount of energy from him.
just as he finished up cleaning his dishes, an idea popped into his head. seungmin lived a whopping ten seconds from his house. why not go ahead, and visit him?
he tried not to pay attention to how he started speeding up his tasks, racing in order to be able to see seungmin as soon as possible. he put his dishes away, cleaned up his room and threw out the trash. looking at the time, it was only four in the afternoon, still very early in the day.
just as he was about to walk over to seungmin's house, he realized he couldn't just appear empty handed. that would be rude of him. he decided upon walking to the nearby flower shop and scooping up a selection of flowers he believed the other would enjoy.
right when he walked in, he was greeted by the reason he was even there to begin with.
seungmin's face lit up. "hyunjin hyung! what are you doing here?" he asked curiously. hyunjin debated in his head whether he was going to tell the truth or not.
he decided upon just being honest. "I wanted to get you flowers," he signed. very brief and not a lot of context for the younger to work with.
seungmin looked taken aback. "flowers for me?" he cocked his head.
hyunjin widened his eyes and gasped, realizing how that could easily be taken the wrong way. "I wanted to get you flowers as a house warming gift, that's why i'm here! nothing else," he sent him a crooked smile.
"housewarming gift? shouldn't it be the other way around," seungmin chuckled a bit. hyunjin looked away, shy.
"well, you didn't get the welcoming you deserved, so it's only fair," he argued back. seungmin smiled at him, causing hyunjin's heart to falter a bit.
he allowed himself to observe the boy a bit longer, noticing that he was holding a large selection of plants that he could only assume he was taking home.
"how about I help you pay for all the plants in your hand already?" hyunjin signaled towards seungmin's handful. seungmin appeared a bit embarrassed as he may have missed the fact that he went a bit overboard.
"it's ok! I was just gonna put some of them back"
"nonsense! let's go to the register," hyunjin tugged seungmin's sleeve. he didn't get a chance to fight as the older was already placing all the plants on the counter as the bored employee scanned each pot.
"could I have that bouquet of flowers behind you as well?" hyunjin spoke up. the employee turned and pulled out the bouquet from the setup they were in. she scanned it as well.
"are you two dating?" she asked as she pressed a couple of buttons on the register. hyunjin widened his eyes and shook his head.
"no! we're not! we're just friends," he answered, letting his voice falter a bit. the girl could sense the way his face dropped at his last few words.
"oh, i thought you guys were getting all of these for your new home. i'm sorry for assuming," she said as she started calculating the total. hyunjin bit his cheek as he fell into deep thought.
would seungmin be the type to want to date someone like him?
"ok, well here's the total, would you like a cart to take everything in?" she asked. hyunjin shook his head no, and paid for the items. he thanked her and grabbed all the plants, walking out, seungmin following close behind.
"what was she saying to you?" he asked curiously, knowing well that they communicated more than just the pricing of the items. he may have picked up a few words, but he wasn't going to comment on that today.
"oh she was just asking if we needed any assistance," was all he could admit, too shy to bring up anything else she said to him.
seungmin looked at the boy and finally took into account that he was empty handed. he tried reaching over to carry a few plants the other was carrying, but hyunjin fought against it.
"let me help," seungmin aggressively signed and glared. hyunjin smirked and shook his head no. soon enough, he extended his left hand, handing seungmin the bouquet of flowers.
"you're only allowed to carry that, since it's yours to keep," hyunjin said. seungmin gasped.
"why did you still get me flowers? you paying for everything else would've been enough!" he slapped the older's shoulder. hyunjin shrugged and continued looking forward, avoiding any form of communication with the younger.
he was evil, and yet it only made the younger like him more.
