grocery shopping.
oh how he hated it. that task alone made hyunjin absolutely oath what is known as adulthood. he wanted no more than to be feed, rather than be the one to have to get the ingredients and cook.
he walked slumped as he struggled to get himself home. having a car wasn't on his priority list, however he was reconsidering that fact after taking in just how long it took him to get back home with the extra weight.
as he continued fighting with himself, he finally came face to face with his front door. something was different though. on the top of his steps, laid out a familiar cat sunbathing.
"what are you doing here?" hyunjin softly spoke as he dropped his bags on the ground and moved forward, petting the cat under its chin.
as though they were connected somehow, seungmin walked out the front door, appearing to be looking intensely for something, or rather someone. he looked all around his front porch, under bushes, over his fence. he seemed desperate.
hyunjin caught onto this, suddenly having the courage to speak up.
"are you looking for your cat?" he yelled across his lawn. it didn't seem like the boy heard him the first time, as he lacked any sort of reaction.
hyunjin paid no mind to it, trying again. "are you missing your cat? your cat's over here," he screamed louder this time. again, seungmin didn't make any sort of effort to face him, continuing his search until he got tired, or bored, or both and dragged his feet back indoors.
hyunjin was taken aback by what had just happened. there's no way the boy could've just ignored him purposely, right?
he remained frozen in place. the feeling of the cat brushing up against his fingers brought him back to reality.
"you need to go home, baby, your daddy's looking for you," he communicated to the animal. the cat began moving its paws against the boys jacket, as it dug its nails into him.
"ow, that's hurts! shoo, go away," he pushed the cat in the direction of his home. as if it understood him, the cat stretched and slowly started walking back to seungmin's front porch.
once it made it back, it began scratching against the door harshly. soon enough, hyunjin caught sight of a small button at the bottom of the door, one which the cat pressed it's paw against.
and just like that, the door swung open as hyunjin could see seungmin step out, stretching his arms out in order to pick up his cat. he could see the way the other's face lit up the moment he caught sight of the animal.
"he must really love his cat," hyunjin grinned as he watched the adorable scene unfold in front of him. it didn't last long, as the younger retrieved back into his home.
sighing, hyunjin looked down at his groceries.
"shit!" he exclaimed as he realized the tube of ice cream he had purchased was melting all across his sidewalk.
he quickly grabbed a hold of his groceries, and struggled to open his front door, as he forgot to get the key out before picking everything up.
he really hated himself in that moment.
he was a little too involved with himself to notice a certain boy watching from his window, and giggling at his rookie mistakes.
