~~Rui POV
Content. If I had a word to use to describe those few months of my life, it'd be content. My interactions with the boy from before were odd, but I had quickly grown over it.
My very embarrassing panic attack still haunted me, but nobody mentioned it other than, well, myself. Nene laughed at me because I was still stuck on it, which did make me feel a bit relieved considering she wasn't thinking about it.
Being reunited with Mizuki was a pleasure as well, as they were an old friend of mine. My small, humble group of friends was all I needed to make myself feel good.
The three of us often hung out together. They were my only friends and it was pretty much the same for Nene, so we had no reason to ignore each other.
"Hmm... this is the place, right?" Nene leaned onto me, staring through the bright entrance to the arcade.
"Well, it definitely looks like it. Come on, let's go meet Mizuki!"
The girl rolled her eyes at my remark, walking by my side as we entered the loud area. Arcades, something I'd always been fond of. They were bright loud, very fun, pretty much the perfect place to keep my mind from being distracted.
The games, activities, and atmosphere was incredible stimulation. The moment we stepped inside, my eyes landed on a familiar friend.
"Hey guys! I already paid for us all since you took your time getting here." Mizuki laughed, stepping forward to greet us.
I giggled back, shaking my head. "I hardly wasted time! As for now, though, let's have some fun and eat later."
As usual for any arcade, it was bustling with excitement and mostly teenagers who didn't have anything else to do. I enjoyed it far more than those childish play places. Although they could've been fun for me at one time, nothing there could keep my attention.
My favorite part of it must've been the bright colors. It made me happy, all of the yellows, pinks, greens... Despite my hatred for childish things, I allowed myself to indulge in some childish fancies.
About fifteen minutes into our time there, I had earned at least twenty rewards. They varied from plushies, action figures, merchandise, etc. I never truly cared about anything other than the cute plushies and satisfaction of conquering the games.
Held to my chest was a cute gold star pillow that was a perfect size for holding. It had a smile on its face, so Nene had the bright idea of naming him, "Smileton". I thought Smileton was adorable.
Eventually, I got very tired of the fun. Socializing while mastering every arcade game wasn't an easy task! The others noticed and decided to take it light on me, so we stopped for a meal.
"Oh... this food is really good!" Mizuki beamed.
We decided to take a break and go snack at a smaller restaurant. Not many in our area were very good, but Nene had insisted on it being amazing.
There weren't many people to accompany us, so we were fine with enjoying our meals in comfort.
"Yeah, you're right. We should all try to come here more often." Nene replied, hiding how much she truly enjoyed it.
I took a piece of meat between my chopsticks and slowly raised it to my lips. Just before I took a bite, I stopped and stared at it. There was nothing wrong with the meat. It looked delicious and had me drooling
Rather, it was something in my head. Huh... didn't Tenma eat this when we had lunch together? And he really enjoyed it when he did. I scolded myself for thinking about him again, because I knew that I shouldn't have.
My mind traveled to the look of fear and panic that painted his poor face. All of a sudden, a weird guilt consumed my conscience. It's not like anything would happen if I texted him... It's not like I miss him... I'm just curious.
I sighed and ate the piece of meat after arguing with myself in my head. My two friends noticed my awkward glare, but didn't comment on it.
Just curious.
