Three weeks later (Author's POV)
You and Shaka had ultimately healed. Though you barely talked to each other when the McKellan's visited your hospital room, unless you absolutely had to, you had at least acknowledged each other with nods or waves. Jade was sitting on your bed with you, holding your hand and talking to you to make you feel better. You were often nauseous and needed hydration, so you had a lot of plastic water bottles in the trash.
"I'll be right back, (Name)." Jade said as she went to the hospital cafeteria. You nodded softly while looking out your window, Shaka in your line of sight. He was playing on his Nintendo Switch. "I'm sorry Keisha rejected you." You said to him in a hoarse voice. He looked at you before nodding and going back to his game.
You played with your fingers for a while before coughing softly. The coughing soon turned into hacking as you were gasping for air. Shaka quickly put down his game, opened a bottle of water, and handed it to you. "Hey, hey, calm down a bit..." He said as you put the top of the water to your lips. He helped you sit up and rubbed your back.
You sighed in relief after you were done drinking and looked at him. "Thanks.." You said. He nodded. "I'd do anything for you." You stared at each other for a while before you both heard someone clear their throat. "I have okra.." Jade said, putting the small box of fried okra into view. You chuckled nervously before patting Shaka's shoulder, subtly signaling him to sit down. Shaka looked at you before sitting back down in the chair before going back to his game.

Jade was currently residing in the hospital lounge, enabling a call with her family, except for Shaka. "Guys, OMG, I think we can save a marriage." Cocoa furrowed her eyebrow. "What marriage? Who's getting married?" She asked instantly. Mazzi spoke up. "She's talking about (Name) and Shaka." Cocoa and M'Dear's eyes widened instantly. "Oh hell no! There will be no marryin' or anymore children in my house!" Moz chuckled. "M'Dear, she's just manifesting it." "I don't give a damn, nobody should be talkin' about marriage!" Jade quickly butted in. "Ooookay.. but, look! I saw them staring at each other like they were still in love! Oh my God, this is like a romcom!"
Jeb he nodded his head in agreement. "Love will find its way." Mazzi then looked at his phone. "Oh, dang." He said. "What?" Cocoa asked. "Shaka got asked to the Sweethearts' Dance by... Jinji Starr?!" Everybody on the call yelled, "What?!" Jade groaned. "He's obviously gonna say yes. We need to sabotage this, somehow." Jeb spoke up. "N-now wait a minute, Jade. I just said love will find it's way. Maybe we should let it all-"
"Nope!" Each of them said.

The day of the Sweethearts' Dance came and the McKellan family was doing everything they could to stop Jinji's limo from stopping at the house, but they failed. Obviously.

You hummed softly as you wrote in your songbook before hearing a knock on your hospital room door. "Come in." You said in a smoother voice than earlier. The door opened for you to your father with a man, not that much older than you. "(Name), look who's here~" You smiled brightly as the man came over to you and kissed your cheek. "Vic." You said softly.
"Hey, darlin'." He said in a heavy country accent.
