(wpsiatwin)alex is in a strop with you and  he gets jealous.

-fire and the thud - arctic monkeys-

-

arctic monkeys were playing a nearby festival in yorkshire. i walked round the wet festival with katie, jamie's girlfriend. the boys were backstage enjoying the band privilege of free services, even though the show wasn't for another two hours.

me and katie grabbed onto eachother for dear life as our shoes weren't fit for the mud. katie suggested we may as well make our way back to the boys as this mud was already slowing us down. we constantly slipped and caught each other, ending up in fits of giggles.

during our very slow paced walk back to the backstage area, i slipped over and katie didn't manage to catch me. my hands somewhat caught me, saving alexs jacket i was wearing and my hair. my jeans however doused in mud. this slowed us down even more as we had to find a tap for me to wash off my hands and my jeans.

-

"al, leave her alone. shes probably having fun with katie. i'm sure they are on their way back. she wont be checking her messages and calls 24/7." matt explained to alex, who was sat moaning to matt sat on a sofa backstage.

"she said she'd ring me when shes on her way back with katie. she left ages ago and the show starts in fifteen minutes." alex complained, messaging y/n again. matt rolled his eyes and watched alex aggressively tap the buttons on his small phone. he got up and tapped alex on the shoulder before walking off to get a drink.

-

finally, we made it backstage. we sighed in relief as we felt wood rather then mud beneath our dirty shoes. i felt silly as my jeans were now wet from rinsing the mud off of them. but i'd rather look like i've wet myself then look like i've shat myself.

we found the bar and saw jamie, matt and nick sat up there. as katie walked over to jamie, i tapped nicks shoulder to ask where alex was after greeting the three of them. "i think he's sat down on them sofas down there." nick pointed down the corridor. i thanked him and was about to walk off until matt told me, "be careful he's a bit pissy because you didn't ring him."

"shit." i jogged down the corridor to see alex miserably slouched over his phone. i sat down next to him but he kept looking down. he was still 'pissy'.

"hiya al, sorry i didn't ring you. me and katie kept slipping over in the mud and i almost ruined my jeans because katie didn't catch me whe- ". i rambled quickly to get my point across but he got up. "where are you going?" i asked confused and got up aswell.

"i've got a show to play." he said, storming out the room. i followed him out towards the bar but he disappeared, aswell as the boys and katie. i ran towards the wings of the stage to try to speak to alex before he got on stage but as i got there, they were already walking on.

i sighed and sat down on a nearby sofa. after a few minutes, katie joined me. "did you get the chance to speak to alex?" she asked.

"no he- he got up and walked out as soon as i tried explaining why i never rang him. he's never gets moody." i explained, biting my nails out of nervousness.

"so much for you being the mardy bum." katie laughed, "but seriously when he gets back just try and speak to him. if he's not having it i'd just leave him alone. after a while i'm sure he'll realise that it's not a big deal." katie then distracted me by telling me some hilarious stories of jamie when he's drunk.

the boys show was a shorter one, as they weren't headlining or anything. i stood by the wings with katie during the last song. alex walked off stage first, walking straight past me before i even got the chance to try and smile at him.

my face dropped, alex had never ignored me before. as matt walked off stage he placed his hand on my shoulder. "give him time. come sit over with me love." i smiled politely at him and everyone sat down round the sofas alex was sat on earlier.

matt kindly sat next to me and gently placed his arm round the back of the sofa. everyone was chatting and joking besides me and alex, despite the fact we didn't have anything to do with eachother at the moment. i sat there, staring at the coffee table infront of me, in my own world. i couldn't believe alex ignored me like that. nothing like that had ever happened before.

matt snapped me out my thoughts, bringing me into the conversation. thats when i noticed alex shooting metaphorical daggers at me and matt. i looked away immediately, smiling at everyone in the room. some of jamies and nicks friends had been invited backstage as well and one of them asked me about me and alex.

"we're doing good yeah. really well." i said slowly, taking small glances over at alex who was now looking down at his lap, miserable as ever. as soon as the conversation progressed i heard alex mutter, "well it depends who you prefer doesn't it?"

"what was that?" i asked him, even though i heard him crystal clear. he kept looking down so i stood up and pulled his hand so he would follow me out the room.

"i try my hardest to apologise to you then you storm out the room, ignore me then don't give me the chance to say anything to you." i explained to him, frustrated.

"well you seem pretty happy with matthew now. i'm sure it doesn't matter anymore." he mumbled, trying to walk away but i stopped him.

"matt was being a kind friend as you didn't want to speak to me, nothing more. look i'm sorry for not ringing you. that whole festival is like a swamp and me and katie got held up in it wearing trainers," i held up my leg to show him my dirty shoes. i sighed, "i understand that you're upset because you may have been worrying about me. however, you must understand how horrible it feels to be ignored by your own boyfriend, even when you've apologised." i finished.

he looked defeated, his bottom lip unconsciously stuck out beneath the other in a pout. "i apologise for ignoring you love. i was so worried for you, i didn't want you to miss the show and get lost and lose katie or summat." he sighed.

"its okay." i smiled softly. "okay." he blushed slightly, a small smile removing the pout from his face. he went in to hug me and i hugged him back. alex brought one hand to the small of my back and one hand rested on the back of my head, in my hair.

"why is your hair wet?" he pulled away holding his hand infront of him, small specks of mud sat on his palm.

"seriously?" i groaned.
