The Work That Still Needs to be Done

What Barbie is trying to accomplish now that she lives as a human in the real world.

Barbie thought that she had fixed the real world when she hadn't. And now that she was a human, she was still going to try and fix things. Just like she thought she should have originally.

She was still aware of the Kens' fight for equality and was following it as closely as she could, despite now living in the real world. As an actual, real person. Even though she was the one who had chosen this, it was still taking some getting used to.

Barbie still felt a little uncomfortable in the real world. She had gotten used to living in a place where only women led, and now things were practically the opposite.

The change was coming slowly, but Barbie was still thrilled about what she was getting.

And, in addition to all this, she was trying to change Barbie's image. She hated that people though the dolls had ruined everything, and, even though she was no longer a doll, Barbie still cared what people thought of them.

She had a lot on her plate now, but all of the things she was trying to change were things that had influenced her decision to become human, so she wasn't minding all the work. She had chosen this. Not that she always had to be happy about it (this was in fact part of what made her human), but reminding herself that she now had options and these were the ones she had gone with was somewhat helpful when she wasn't feeling so great about all of this.
