Cap. 11 Crucial point

Three months later.

The life at the cabin was boring being confined with not much to do. At least they were together and they could talk.

They had the occasion to learn things about each other and Eddy especially had the opportunity to learn many things about the outside world.

The belly was growing almost at eyesight being not only faster than a human one but also being three little gremlins.

Ray: “Two weeks check!”

He said from outside the door after making the secret banging on the door.

Brett stood from the couch where Eddy was soundly asleep and opened the door making sign to the man to keep a low volume of voice.

Ray: “Ugh, wrong moment?”

He whispered taking in the house the rations of food he had brought

Brett: “He wasn’t able to sleep tonight and apparently now is a good moment”

Ray: “Gosh it sounds harsh”

Brett nodded looking at the sleeping man with a complex face

Brett: “Tell me that you at least have some good news on the war”

Ray took a deep intake of air scratching his forehead and looking with wide eyes to a non-specific point in the room.

Ray: “It’s proceeding…we are still at the crucial battle but Chen’s men are nowhere to be found. They know that after this battle the equilibrium of the clans will be changed forever, but, apparently, they cannot accept this and I fear they are plotting something”

Brett: “Something like the kidnap you mean?”

Ray: “I fear even worse”

It was not easy to say what their next move would have been, especially now that their weak points had been exposed. Something so extreme like the kidnap could still reverse the end of the war but it would have been the last desperate attempt to flip the reality that their way of being werewolf was now obsolete.

Brett: “Do you think we are safe here?”

Ray: “I don’t know anymore…I come here every two weeks like usual but I don’t know if someone has been following me. I have my men covering the trail but I cannot have them always there or they would draw attention…”

Brett: “Yeah, I mean…it’s not strange for you to come here and probably for the fact that it is normal they would want to control…but I don’t think we can go anywhere right now, especially with Eddy in this condition. We still have one month and a half/two to go and his belly is already so big…”

Ray took a quick glance and the belly was indeed huge and bigger that the last time he’d been there.

He reached in his backpack and took out a sort of phone with a wide screen and a strange shape.

Ray: “I couldn’t bring more, but this is a portable ultrasound, and this…”

He said handing the ultrasound to Brett before reaching once again in the backpack.

Ray: “This is a non-traceable phone. Use it to video-call the doctor tonight he will give you some advices”

Brett took the items in his hands sniffling

Brett: “Thank you…”

Ray: “Hey…it will be over soon, ok?”

Brett: “I know I just fear for him…he is so strong for what he is doing but a complication is always possible…”
