Serenity made her way over to the familiar sports car. She opened the passenger door, tossing her bag over the back seat. It had been a long week since her birthday, she had been sitting on the bench during her basketball games. If she wanted a full ride for college, she was going to have to find a way to get off the bench and soon.
Serenity smiled as Kentrell took a pull from his blunt before putting his car in reverse, backing out of the student parking lot. In the mean time, she had managed to bring her grades back up. She was determined to get a full ride, one way or another.
The hum of the engine filled the space between them as they drove away from the school. Serenity glanced at Kentrell, studying his profile. She could smell his usual scent of weed and his cologne mixing together. This would make the first time they saw each other since her birthday.
"Kentrell," she finally spoke, her voice soft. He glanced at her briefly, his eyes meeting hers before returning to the road. "You okay?"
