***Drained***

Amy stumbled through her front door, feeling the weight of the day's events pressing heavily on her shoulders. The meeting with Alex, the confessions, the pain in his eyes - it all swirled together in a maelstrom of emotion that left her feeling drained and lost.

She dropped her purse on the table and checked her phone, the screen filled with missed calls and texts from Marcus. She'd told him earlier that she was planning to reveal everything to Alex, and now he was worried, his concern evident in his frantic messages.

With trembling hands, she dialled his number, not expecting him to answer so late. But to her surprise, he picked up on the first ring; his voice filled with anxiety.

"Marcus, it's Amy. I told him. I told Alex everything," she said, her voice breaking.

"What? Are you okay? What happened?" Marcus asked, his voice filled with clear concern.

"I-I'm not okay, Marcus. Not at all," Amy stammered, tears choking her words.

"I told Alex the truth. About who I am, about Isabella, everything."

"Oh, Amy," Marcus sighed, his voice soft and sympathetic. "That must have been incredibly difficult for you. How did he react?"

"He was angry, Marcus. So angry," she replied, her voice trembling.

"He felt betrayed, and I can't blame him. But he's agreed to look at the information I gathered about Isabella. He's still so torn up about her disappearance."

"You did what you had to do, Amy," Marcus said gently, trying to console her.

"You couldn't keep hiding this from him. It was the right thing, even if it's painful now."

"But what if I've ruined everything, Marcus? What if he can never trust me again?" Amy's voice cracked, the uncertainty and feared in her words resonating.

"Give him time," Marcus encouraged.

"He's just found out something huge. He's dealing with a lot of emotions right now. But he'll see that you had good intentions. I believe that."

Amy fell silent, her mind racing.

"You know," Marcus continued hesitantly, "maybe, just maybe, you can finish this chapter with Alex and move on with your life as well... love someone else?"

The last word hung in the air, filled with uncertainty.

"What?" Amy stammered, shocked in her voice.

"I-I don't know about that, Marcus. I can't just... I don't even know what I feel."

"Hey, it's okay," Marcus reassured her softly.

"I'm not saying you have to do anything now. I'm just saying that maybe, someday, when all of this is behind you, you'll be free to explore new possibilities. And no matter what, I'll always be here for you."
