Chapter 23

"tighnari??"

"yes?"

you stared up at tighnari from his arms, seeing the forest watcher giving you a curious look.

"am i too heavy?"

"well-"

"answer wisely, this is a trick question," you added, making him shake his head with mock disappointment.

"i was going to say no anyways," tighnari replied. "anyways, we're almost home. do you want my help with your routine?"

"m' too tired for a routine," you replied.

"and yet you have enough energy to keep sassing me," tighnari chuckled.

you saw the warm glow that came from gandharva ville, making you feel very comforted and safe. well, how much more safe could you feel? you were with tighnari after all.

after walking up the steps, he kicked the door open with his foot. he laid you down gently on the bed, undoing your shoes and allowing you to sleep comfortably. he set down both of your bags, getting himself dressed for bed.

tighnari sat down on the edge of the bed, seeing you passing out. "goodnight Y/N," he said, rubbing your cheek endearingly.

"goodnight," you murmured, allowing your eyelids to flutter shut. you were awake long enough to feel his lips meet your forehead.

the next morning, tighnari woke up when he heard a crash. he sat up, grabbing a book by his nightstand and holding it up, "WHAT? WHAT? I'M UP."

"tighnari..."

his eyes adjusted to the light of the room, seeing you crouching on the chair. he lowered the book, "Y/N...? what happened?"

you wordlessly pointed to the ground, tighnari's gaze following your finger and seeing a large spider on the ground, front arms raised. it was around the size of your palm. obviously it didn't bite you or anything, but it made you quite uncomfortable.

he grabbed a glass cup from his nightstand and slowly got out of his bed, tip-toeing over, and then with one motion he caught the spider with the cup. afterwards, he slid a piece of paper underneath the rim of the cup and held it up, looking at it with fascination.

"wow! what a specimen! great find Y/N."

"uhm... more like it found me," you corrected him, stepping off the stool and backing away from tighnari.

he noticed how you distance yourself and frowned, "no kiss? i saved your ass."

"not with that thing near you," you snorted, slipping on your shoes. "let me know when you're done gawking at it. in the meantime, i'm gonna go take care of the boars. see ya!"

you promptly left, leaving tighnari and the spider in his room. the spider looked up at tighnari, tighnari looking down at it with a sigh, "i'll let you go buddy, let me just check a few things."

in the meantime, you were feeding the boars, cleaning them off with a brush and making sure they got their daily dose of attention. you had learned from cyno's spouse that the boars belonged to collei and them, but considering that collei was busy and cyno's spouse was also busy, you decided to take care of them in their stead. you had to admit, the two boars grew on you quite a bit over the past 2 months.

the baby boar had outgrown his mother, and the mother looked to be enjoying her life relaxing and doing practically nothing. you cleaned the baby boar's mushrooms, making sure there's no build-up on any of them, "you're too adorable."

he grunted in acknowledgment, gently nudging into you in a show of affection. you ruffled its head, making it sit down in front of you for more. after around 3 minutes of constant head patting, you decided to clip the mother boar's hooves. luckily she was very patient and made the process a lot easier than it could have been.

after spending another 20 minutes with the boars, you dusted off your hands and closed the enclosure to allow them to take a nap. you sorted yourself out, returning to the bedroom to change out of your dusty clothes.

you heard a knock at the door, allowing tighnari inside. "how's the spider?"

"luckily you didn't kill her," tighnari said. "she was pregnant."

"..... huh?"

"if you had squashed her, baby spiders would have probably dispersed and run around everywhere."

you shuddered, "i dodged a bullet."

"you sure did," he chuckled. "how are the boars?"

"cute as always," you beamed, shrugging on your last layer of clothing, which just so happened to have a few buttons.

"here, let me help."

you gave him a confused look while he walked over so he could be in front of you. he reached out and grabbed your buttons, clipping them together for you.

"thanks nari!"

"nari...? that's a new one," he mused.

"oh sorry- do you not like it-"

he cut you off with a small peck, adjusting the last button. "i love it."

you were to flustered to say anything, looking away from him. he moved a little closer to you, moving your head toward him by grabbing your chin. "i want my kiss now, Y/N. it's 34 minutes overdue."

he didn't wait for a response, pressing a kiss to your lips. you reciprocated immediately, and after a moment he broke away, satisfied.

"there we go," he said happily. "i have to get going in a bit to take care of a withering zone that's gotten a little out of hand, so i'll be back in a bit."

you nodded, "stay safe."

he pressed one last small kiss to your nose before he heard cyno's spouse calling from outside. "HEY! FURRY, GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE! YOUR AERODYNAMIC CHICKEN WOKE ME UP EARLY FOR THE WITHERING ZONE!"

you laughed while tighnari groaned, trudging outside to meet up with cyno's spouse who was impatiently waiting. you followed after calming yourself down, seeing both of them outside.

"hey," you called.

cyno's spouse turned around, eyes lighting up when they saw you. "Y/N!!! good morning!"

"it's almost noon," tighnari said.

"no one asked," cyno's spouse sassed him, running over to you. "how's my favorite person in the whole wide world??"

"won't cyno throw a fit," you laughed.

"he has no say in this," they rolled their eyes. "so~ how are you?"

"great!"

"Y/N, sumpter beast, i know you both are eager to see each other after being apart for more than 8 hours, but there's a withering zone that needs to be dealt with," tighnari called. "being apart for another hour won't kill you."

cyno's spouse snickered, "maybe you're just jealous that Y/N likes me more. but fine, i'll go take care of the big bad withering zone with you."

you laughed, "i'll see you soon then."

"bye Y/N," they said, running off and using a tri-clover to zip away toward the location of the zone. tighnari ran over, pressing a short peck to your lips before doing the same, leaving you speechless. aftet a moment of recollecting yourself, you ran back inside in a hurry.

now that he's gone, it's time to draft the letter.
