Betrayer. I mind talked to Jayke.
He woke up in surprise to my voice. Although he didn’t know I was in his room and I had only made myself invisible.
Cris… I thought you weren’t coming back before the Rebellion. He answered.
The one you told your dad all about? I asked angry.
I didn’t …
Don’t lie to me, ass hole. I know more then you think. I saw you go to your dad and heard you tell him everything about the rebellion. Did you manage to have my dad locked up too?
I didn’t betray you, Crissy.
No, of course you didn’t. Simply told your father that you’d catch me to earn his fatherly figure. Nope, that’s not betraying.
Its not what you think, hun.
Shut up, Jayke! Do what the hell you were doing. Become daddy’s little boy when he wanted you dead too! Oh and, is his government suite more comfy then our apartment? He didn’t reply to that. He knew I was right. I’ll fight you Jayke. And you won’t be pretty after I do so.
With that, I went to see my father. I entered the room and he knew I was there before I had time to make myself known to him.
Crissy, sweetheart, you shouldn’t be here. Especially alone. He mind talked to me as I entered.
Dad, how …? I questioned him.
Remember that I see you, darling. Go back, Mr. Shann has my whole house under watch. I think he’s on the watch too.
I just wanted to see you … I whispered.
Go now, sweetheart. We’ll have time enough to catch up when all this is over with.
Before I went back to Shawn and Jessica I had to do a last stop: the Governor. As I expected, he was sound asleep like every normal person. I had never seen him in the journal or in pictures, not even on TV. He had made sure to keep himself hidden and I wondered why. As I took a step forward he woke abruptly and sat up in his bed staring directly at me although I had my veil on.
“Who let you in?” he asked as if I was really there.
I stared back at him and knew what was odd. He could see the hidden people which meant that our Demon-child hating governor was a demon himself.
“Why do you kill us if we’re you’re kin?” I asked dropping my veil.
He blinked at me, seeing that NOW I was flesh and skin.
“Who are you to question me?” it sounded more like a rhetorical question but I still answered.
“Crissy Tane or Christine Shelvy.” I took a step closer to the old man’s bed.
“The pure demon child – “
“Nearly pure.” I corrected.
“The nearly pure demon child. Yes, I remember you. I have something for you. I wish you’d have co-operated more. Its been waiting for you for a while.” He stood and walked towards a dresser, opened a drawer and turned back to me – a gun pointed to my head. “Death is the surprise.”
I laughed a bit then let out a sigh as I took a knife from it’s sheath on my hip – Shawn and Jessica had forced me to always keep at least a knife on me just in case. I smiled and cut my palm, forcing it to bleed before turning my palm to him.
“Blue blood, sense, teleportation and invisibility. Except the last one obviously doesn’t work on you, so aside from that one. How do you intend on killing me?”
He stared at me a bit in anger and fired. The time he had used to stare at me in anger had been the time I had used to sense and teleport to a room nearby.
One thing I didn’t tell you … I took Mr. Shann’s gun from his hands without moving. I guess being so pure pays out.
With that, I left without even a goodbye. I arrived back to the Isle, beside the now awake Shawn.
“Sneaky.” he whispered not looking at me.
“I’m sorry. I had to go see my dad.” I answered, lying down.
“You’ll get to fight him, Cris. Soon enough too.” he got up and went for the door.
I got up and went to hug him from behind.
“I’m sorry to have gone without warning … I thought you knew I would anyway.” I whispered against his back.
I felt his hands slide on my arms and heard him whisper, “I did.”
He took my hand and turned it. I heard him swear as his finger slid over the cut I had made and he pulled me out of the room and banged on Jess’ door.
“Jess! Wake up! We have to get Crissy to the club! Hurry!” He screamed at the door.
“Shawn, what is going on?” I asked, feeling dizzy.
“I knew it! Look, the governor has more then one Demon child at his word. One of them can summon through the teeniest drop of blood. They have yours.” he explained, furious.
I stared at him, understanding my dizziness. My breath was kicked out of me and I gasped for breath as I felt myself being torn away.
“Cris! Fight, damn it! You can fight him!” I heard Shawn scream but his voice sounded far away.
“This is the way I’ll kill you, Demon.”
The voice sounded close to my ear and I slowly opened my eyes to see the governor stepping back with a proud grin on his face.
“One guard can summon you with the blood you gave me, the other has an aura too strong for teleportation and the third can paralyze your body and mind. The rest can fight like machines.” He explained with a victorious grin.
“You wouldn’t kill the purest demon child alive.” I retorted in pain.
“That’s right. I won’t ruin your precious blood. You’ll be much more advantageous with a few clones.” he grinned as he turned and walked out of the room leaving the bunch of guards alone with me.
I tried to move to find myself chained to a wall in a sitting position.
