I threw the phial of blood on Shawn’s head once I was back.

“Who rocks?” I asked as it crashed to the floor and I started laughing. He stared at me in amazement.

“Crissy… I thought they had you for good!” He shouted and ran to take me in his arms.

“No one’ll keep me for themselves.” I answered, proud of myself.

“No one?” Shawn asked into my ear.

“No one that wants me dead at least.” I corrected, still laughing.

I held onto him as much as he held onto me. He was amazing in many ways and so protective of me. I knew he had been afraid of never seeing me again, or if he did, that I’d be dead.

“You always go against my visions, Cris.” He whispered pulling back a bit.

“Why do you say that?” I asked.

“I had seen that you wouldn’t have survived that.” he whispered and hugged me again. “How can you go against what is written in the book?”

I stayed stunned a little at his remark and I started thinking. Did we have a book that said everything of our life? That you couldn’t change any part in? Was there a higher one who decided what we did when we did? And if there was a book written for our lives, its ours, can we edit it?

“Crissy Tane.. Christine Shelvy.. Lexsley Carmain.. Do you have another name we’re not aware of?” asked Jessica behind us.

I turned around to face her and shook my head.

“Truth.” she sighed and went back to the living room.

I followed her there and nearly fell to my knees when I saw that Wayne, Jayke and my mom were there.

“Dad!” I yelled and ran to hug him.

“Hey sweetheart. I thought we’d drop you a little visit but you were hum … occupied?” He asked frowning.

“I’m guessing Shawn told you.” I laughed and went to sit on the edge of the bay window. “I escaped, yet again.”

Jayke got up and came to hug me but all I did was make myself invisible and walk away. When I was beside Shawn I went back to flesh and skin and glared at Jayke.

“Crissy, I wanted him to think I was on his side to help free you.” he explained.

I looked to everyone in the room and saw that Jessica was moving her eyes side to side. He was lying.

“Get out of here, Jayke.” I said, simply.

“Hun, you can’t kick people out of a house that isn’t yours.” Objected my mom.

“This is as much her house as it is mine’s or Jess’ or Wayne’s.” Shawn said wrapping an arm around my waist which reminded me of the first time Jayke and I had met. It also got Jayke’s attention and a frown appeared on his face.

“Okay, no more fighting. I brought him here because he witnessed something that no one has yet heard of.” Wayne looked at Jessica and she nodded. “People are being slaughtered back home.”

I stared at my dad. He slowly stopped looking at Jessica seeing that she was acknowledging his words as truths, to look at me.

“What?” I asked, clinging to Shawn.

“The government are after you because there is another nearly pure demon child who is harming others. They saw what she is capable of and want you gone also. Shann has a personal grudge against you but I’m sure that our governor would come to an agreement with you.” Wayne explained.

I looked at Jessica before saying anything. She nodded but her face showed pain and sadness, she wanted to do something. I turned my head to look at Shawn and his face showed just as much pain. Finally, I looked at Jayke. I knew he had lied but I realized one thing – he wasn’t wearing glamour to hide his pink eyes.

“Mom, I do have one thing to ask you.” I said taking my eyes off Jayke.

    “Anything, sweetheart.” she answered.

“If you’re really a demon, what is your ability?” I asked.

She looked at Wayne, seeming unsure and he answered for her.

“She can change into any real animal and a few legendary animals.”

I blinked at her. I had lived with her for fifteen years and it was the first time that I knew what she did.

    “Show me.” I requested.

She gave a small laugh and closed her eyes with a smile on her face. Slowly, she started to grow smaller, taking on the physical appearance of a cat. Once the change full, she had grown orangish fur and had the same colored eyes. She walked over to me and rubbed on my leg.

Believe me now? She asked me through mind talk.

I nodded and she slowly changed back. When the change was full, she was sitting on the floor with that same smile on her face. She stood and hugged me before going back to stand beside Wayne.

“So … you were actually the cat I found in the basement when I was nine?” I asked.

She smiled again and nodded. I closed my eyes and tried to think of something.

“Dad, do you know the name of that girl?”

“She calls herself Angel. She has been an orphan since her childhood. Lived where she could on what she could. The name Angel came from the fact that she ended the torture of a lot of bums who were between life and death. The street people call her their guardian angel since she brings them food. But as soon as one acts wrongly, he dies. She seems to kill via dreams though since most of them fall asleep to never wake up. Jayke was around a bum who was asleep and his skin just decayed before his eyes. When he looked around, she was standing in the shadows of the alley.”

“Angel.. Angel the Demon.” I grinned at the irony. “Alright. So she kills through dreams. I’m guessing what happens in their dream really happens to them and they don’t wake up from the pain because the pain is as numb as it is when you dream.”

“That seems to be it.” Jayke said, speaking up again. “The man I saw only frowned and winced a few times but it seemed to only be the normal reactions for a bad dream.”

“Lets go find her and beat the crap out of her!” Jessica said, laughing somewhat.

“Okay. Everyone will have a part in this.” I thought for a moment about what each of us would do. “Shawn, you’ll have to fight according to what you see for the others, don’t worry about what you see about me. Jessica, you fight and register what is true or not in what she says. Mom, can you stay changed for a long period of time? And can you switch from one animal to another without going back to normal?”

She nodded and I went on.

“Then, when we get to her I want you to be a hawk. Surveying our area non-stop. Once the battle starts, you’ll change to … hmm.” I tried to think of a good animal. “A wolf.”

“That only leaves us three.” Jayke stated.

“Dad, you’ll stay with Jess, Shawn and mom. I want you to keep a close eye on me none the less. Jayke … you’ll have to disguise us and come with me to the Governor. We had some deals to settle. All of you stay here until I come back to head for Angel. I’ll try and bring a little army that I got acquainted with.” I grinned as Jayke made us look like the typical business people.
