Chapter 8 - The App

I woke up Friday morning in desperate need of a coffee so I dragged myself out of bed and to the shower to get ready for my lecture. Today I've just gone with skinny black jeans, a yellow shirt and green jumper.

Our Wednesday lectures had now been changed to Fridays as our lecturer could no longer take us on Wednesdays, but it didn't bother me.

Once I was ready I was heading out the door, headphones in, heading towards the cafe to grab a coffee. I was quite excited about todays lecture, I'd get to find some good editing apps and would then start to learn how to use my chosen app and then tomorrow at the game I could start with my photos.

I ordered my coffee and sat down to wait for it when I see people out of the corner of my eye walking towards me. Looking up to my shock I see Louis and Liam walking over with their other friend.

"Morning mate." Liam says enthusiastically. "You grabbing your morning coffee too?" He questions, looking down at me.

"Yeah, need it to get through the lecture." I smile, eyes diverting to their friend standing with them who I'm yet to learn the name of.

"Oh Harry, this is Zayn. Zayn, this is Harry. You know, the photographer we were telling you about." Liam introduces us and oh, that's his name.

"Nice to meet you." I smile, holding out my hand for him to shake. He takes my hand in his and mutters a quiet hello and then my orders being called out.

"I'm sorry. I really should be going." I smile sheepishly at them while I stand up, picking up my backpack and walking to the counter to collect my coffee. I give them a quick wave before heading out the door and towards my lecture room.

When I got into class I pulled out my laptop and checked all my emails, replying to all of the important ones while I waited for the teacher to come in.

Once the lecturer made his presence known he started the lesson. I sat and listened intently as I flicked through the three editing app choices we had and once I chose the best one for me I pulled up the PowerPoint that matched the once I chose.

For the rest of the lesson I flicked through the PowerPoint and editing app and tested out the features with some old photos I had taken that were stored on my laptop. Today's lesson was a successful one for myself and I was happy with the new information I would be walking away with.

When my lecture had finished I met Niall at the cafe for some brunch before he had to go to his lecture.

"Hey mate." I said as I walked into the cafe and spotted Niall sitting near a window, looking at the menu.

"Oh, hey. How you going?" He questioned as I sat down in the chair across from him.

"Really good actually. Today's lecture was really good and I learnt quite a bit." I smiled, thinking about all the new things I had learnt and how it's going to really help with this first project. "How are you?"

"I'm alright. My lectures going to be boring though, we're going over things that I already know but I guess it doesn't hurt to refresh the memory." Niall says, head still buried in the menu that he's holding in his hands.

"I'm going to go order, I'm going to get the pancakes and coffee cause I haven't eaten yet." He says, standing up and heading towards the counter. I take this opportunity to open the menu even though I already know what I'm going to get.

When Niall returns I go and order my food and drink which was a banana smoothie and avocado toast.

"So. You coming to the soccer game tomorrow?" I question Niall as I approach our table again. He switches off his phone and looks up, giving me his attention.

"Probably. But won't you be taking photos?" He asks with a slight frown forming on his face.

"Well yeah but you can still come and watch if you want to." I say, trying not to push him into something he doesn't want to do but it would be nice to have his company as I still wasn't completely comfortable around the whole team.

Just before Niall can answer a waiter walked over to our table with our drinks. We both thank him before getting back to our conversation.

"You know what, I will come. It was fun last time." He smiles as he lifts his mug to his lips and takes a sip of his coffee. I just hum and nod my head in response as I put the straw to my mouth and drink my smoothie.

It was an hour later when Niall and I both stood up to leave the cafe. Niall heading to his lecture and me heading back to our dorm, I wanted to get back and play around with the new editing app.

"I'll see you later." I say, waving at Niall as we part ways. As I turn the corner I bump into someone and slightly stumble back before I get my footing and stand up straight.

"I am so sorry, I should've checked before I came around the corner." I apologize and get a quick apology in return. I smile at the stranger before continuing on my way when I hear someone yell out from across the path.

"So it's not just me you run into either." I look over to see a smirking Louis who is also accompanied by Liam and Zayn.

"I guess not." I shrug, chuckling to myself. They all start to walk over to me and I can feel my hands getting sweaty because of how nervous I've become.

"Hey. You coming to the game tomorrow?" Liam questions, raising his eyebrow at me as he waits for my response.

"Oh uh, yeah. Going to try to take a few photos tomorrow. We just chose our preferred editing apps today so I'm going to go back to my dorm and fiddle around with it a bit more, get comfortable with it you know." I smile, looking down at my feet because why am I telling them things they probably don't even care about.

"That's cool man." I hear Zayn say, causing me to look up and smile at him, mumbling a thank you to him.

"Guess we'll see you tomorrow then, we better get going." Louis smiles at me, our eyes locking for a couple of seconds before I clear my throat.

"Uh yeah, sure thing. I should probably get going too." I chuckle. We all say a quick goodbye to each other before we're parting ways again and I'm back on track towards my dorm.

When I finally get there I go into my room and set up my desk to study straight away. I email my lecturer a few times asking questions about my chosen editing app.

I write down any notes that I think are important from the PowerPoint and research anything else I need to know whilst I also practice with some old photos I have stored on my laptop.

I didn't realize how engrossed I had become until I heard Niall opening and closing the door which also made me conscious of how sore my back hand become so I closed my laptop and stretched out my back on my way to the kitchen.

"Hey man." Niall says, taking his shoes off and leaving them at the front door.

"Hey." I smile. "Think I'm going to go and do a quick shop. I can cook dinner tonight for us as well." I say, making my way over to the fridge and cupboard to see what we need from the shops. "Any special requests?"

"Nah, grab whatever you want. I'll be happy with anything." He chuckles, walking down the hallway towards his bedroom. "I'm just going to do a bit of study." He yells from his room.

I yell out a quick goodbye to him before I'm out the door and heading towards the grocery shop we have on campus.

Once I had finished cooking and dishing up our dinner which was a casserole with rice, I walked over to Niall who was sitting on the couch ready to press play on our movie and handed him his bowl.

When I finished eating I put my bowl on the coffee table in front of me and laid down on the couch, my full focus now going to the TV as we were halfway through 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes.'
