I shot up off the ground and turned to see where to run. The group of girls were blocking the trail to the waterfall so I darted toward the field and ran through the hot air. I turned my head and looked for the girls who were all charging behind me, all laughing as if they knew I would tire and they could easily do away with me.
I kept looking at them and for my lack of attention, tripped on a root. I got up and looked forward. The sun was white hot and my clothes felt heavier than ever before. I felt beads of sweat flying down my forehead. Ahead I saw a blur of orange, yellow, and red. I kept running until I came near  a new forest.
I dove behind a brown, withering bush and took a few deep breaths. I saw something glint from my wrist and remembered I was wearing the silver bracelet.
I grabbed the bracelet and felt the charm with a lit torch was searing hot and the unlit torch was ice cold. The second I touched the unlit torch the sun in the sky dipped down into the horizon and the moon rose from the opposite side of the sky. The air became cooler and it became dark. And at that moment, I learned the secret and power of the Torch.
