Chapter 5 - Dahon's backstory

Third person POV

  And so, Dahon told Atsushi about his backstory. In his backstory, Dahon is revealed to be an ordinary human boy like Atsushi living in Quezon City, the Philippines. He is known to be kind and humble. His previous name prior to becoming a spirit is Dahon Catapang, and Dahon is a Christian at a young age. And as the last name suggested, Dahon is also known to be tough against injustice and fights for true justice until his death at the age of 16 after being killed in a flash flood while on a vacation in Occidental Mindoro. But before his death, Dahon promised to watch everyone he loved and cared for forever. And with that, Dahon became a spirit of wind after death.

Atsushi listened to him very attentively, feeling bad for him and his early death. "Wow, I am sorry for you, kaibigan..."

  "That's okay, Atsushi," Dahon responded with a quick smile. "And as for how we met, when you were young, according to the memories of your current body, you became my vessel by choice a few days before the downfall of humanity had taken place. And ever since then, I have been protecting you from danger, especially against the beastmen of the apocalypse."

Atsushi was stunned and tried to remember those times in his childhood.

  Luckily, he did and remembered one time when a beastman was about to finish him when Dahon intervened and used his spirit power to collapse a part of the bridge where the beastman stood, causing the beastman to fall to the water below. After that flashback, Atsushi was stunned and thanked Dahon for that.

  "You're welcome, kaibigan ko," replied Dahon back, "I am happy to help you. Anyways, shall we go to Yuichiro's ward together?"

Atsushi then nodded. "Yes."

  And so, both of them left the restroom together, with Dahon disappearing from the mirror and going back into Atsushi's body. There at Yuichiro's ward, Yuichiro had just woken up from his coma when Atsushi entered the room. "Hey, guys, sorry for taking so long," Atsushi replied back.

  "What took you so long?" Yoichi looked at him.

  "Something personal," answered Atsushi back.

Shinoa and Yuichiro are puzzled by his statement but buy it anyway.

  And later on, after Shinoa, Atsushi, and Yoichi reveal to Yuichiro his successful entry into the vampire extermination unit by making a friend. Yuichiro was stunned but was positive that his efforts had paid off. So, the four of them placed their right hands together as a gesture of teamwork.
