Human AU!

Warning: Slight mentions of hitting, physical emotional and mental abuse, toxic relationships, a bit of cursing.

Also, forgot to tell you- this will not be as cursing-free as my other oneshot book. They are older in this oneshot book, soooo- yeah.

Anyways, ENJOY.

SOPHIE WINCED, COVERING her face with her hands weakly as her boyfriend, Fitz Vacker, continued to rage and destroy his dorm in anger. She was pressed up against a wall in fear that she would be something that Fitz decided to hit next. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

At least she'd just bought a whole bunch of more makeup to coverup the bruises and scars that were sure to come.

"What is mentally wrong with you?!" he screamed, rambling on about insults and why she was such a selfish bitch and how she doesn't deserve his "love".

With each insult, she could practically feel her self-esteem, self-confidence, self-anything go down with each pronunciation of every syllable and letter.

"Now, I'm going to ask you one more time," Fitz growled, coming up to her and placing both of his hands on the wall beside her head, boxing her in. "What were you doing on Saturday? And don't you dare lie to me again through those pretty white teeth."

Sophie swallowed, locking eyes with him so he'd know she wasn't lying. Not that he'd believe her anyways—

"Start talking, bitch!" Fitz yelled right in her ear, making her wince and her words tumble over themselves.

"I-I needed help with my Linguistics homework and so I asked Grady and Edaline, but they were too busy with a new animal that had just came in," she gushed, tying to get everything out as quickly as she could. "So that's when Keefe offered to help me and—"

"Don't you DARE say that bastard's name!" Fitz said, even though Keefe was literally his best friend. See how good of a friend he is? After taking several deep breaths, he motioned for her to continue.

Sophie took a deep breath and continued, not saying Keefe's name as it would only anger her boyfriend further. "So that's when he offered to help me and I accepted, since I obviously needed the help. He came over to my house and we were just studying until Stina was walking down the street, since she lives three houses down, for her afternoon walk and saw us. I guess she assumed things and took several pictures of us that are now all over social media," she finished, panting from her huge proclamation.

Fitz scowled, because he knew it was true. Sophie never lied to him.

And yet, his fists still flung out until Sophie's body was covered in scattered bruises and several bleeding cuts. By the end of it all, Sophie felt like she was about to faint.

"Look at you, can't even handle a few little hits," he hissed, like he had totally only hit her five or six times lightly. No, in fact, is was the opposite, really. "Go home. And make sure to cover that up. Oh, and for God's sake, don't wear a hoodie and sweatpants to school next time. Actually look presentable, with a decent dress and heels and styled hair, like what good girls are supposed to look like."

Not knowing what to say, Sophie nodded. He removed his hands from the wall and she ran out of his dorm, rushing to the school parking lot that was at least a mile away.

It also didn't help that it was 10 o'clock at night, making the blonde extra scared of the things that go bump in the night.

Finally, she reached the parking lot. Panting heavily and in more than a lot of pain, she reached for the driver's seat handle.

But when she opened it, she gasped in horror at the sight before her.

Keefe Sencen was sitting in the driver's seat, staring at her in concern, worry, and confusion.

"Foster!" he gasped, immediately reaching out to steady her as her knees buckled, unable to stand anymore. Sophie couldn't help but hiss as his hands touched one of her deeper cuts and he immediately placed it on her shoulders instead, the only place that didn't throb as much as the rest of her body. "What happened? Please, talk to me."

"I—" she suddenly stopped, unable to speak as she burst out in sobs, the pain overriding her senses.

Keefe crouched on the pavement, probably creasing his blue Air Jordan's, but it didn't look like he cared, at least in that moment. All that mattered was the crying girl in his arms, and it broke his heart to see her crying like that, even if he still didn't know why.

Once her sobs finally reduced to sniffles, Sophie pulled away and locked eyes with Keefe's sticking ice-blue ones. "Thanks," she mumbled, snuggling her head into the spot between his neck and shoulder.

Keefe's lips had a hint of a smile. "There's no need to thank me, Foster," he told her. "I'm always going to be here for you. Never, ever doubt that."

Sophie smiled against his shoulder. "I won't."
