POV Carlos:
Despite the fact that y/n hadn't mentioned until later that we were going out to dinner with her father, I'm actually having a pretty good time, if you see Toto off-course he's pretty okay. Grumpy he is, but I can tell from him that he only wants the best for his daughter. "I have to honestly admit Carlos that I am somewhat pleased with this evening." I admit I feel the same way. "Be good to her, she deserves to be treated like a princess, she means everything to me even though I don't always show it to her." "I will do my best, she will not lack anything with me." I promise him. When y/n returns from the restroom we quickly talk about another subject. "Why is it always about races with you guys." "Then what do you want to talk about?" I ask her when she comes back to sit next to me, I put my hand on hers and wait for her answer. "I actually wanted to call Mom today while we are all here, then we can also show her that we are doing our best to have a good time." Toto picks up his cell phone from the table and presses his wife's name. Susie reacts as any mother would and she asks if I want to visit them sometime I agree and I see y/n smiling beside me.
"I think I better go back to my hotel room." Says Toto as y/n and I still decide to stay for a while to drink coffee. "Is good dad, I'll see you tomorrow." She gets up and gives him a kiss on the cheek, then he gives me a hand. "It went pretty nice that way didn't it?" Asks y/n as we sit down to our coffee together. "It wasn't too bad, I wasn't expecting this." We talk about the evening and then head back to the hotel ourselves.
POV y/n:
Despite being back at the hotel early, there wasn't much sleep last night, we were almost late to the track, when we both hastily hold our passes against the entrance device and we are a few steps together inside, press immediately comes running towards us. "Are you guys together now, because we see you guys together more and more." "We're too late that's all we have to say on it, so if you guys could just step aside that would be really nice." Says Carlos in an exasperated voice. I fast forward to George's pit box where he is about to walk into his dressing room. "George!" He looks over and waves. "You're late today, I was almost afraid I was going to have to start without you today." "No, I'm here, but I overslept." "Tough night?" "Not really, why?" "Really, if I where you I'd take a look down your neck." I follow George into his dressing room and look in the mirror there, in my neck there is a dark spot. "God damn it he gave me a hickey." George laughs hard and I end up laughing too. "Do you have an extra vest lying around here?" "I'll look for you." I get a vest thrown to me and put it on, I zipper it up all the way to the top, hoping it will keep the hickey from being noticed. I leave George's locker room to go find my father and go over the strategy for practice with him again.
Taking a seat next to my father at the pit wall and putting on my headphones, I exchange a glance with him. "You're late." Whispered he, I shake my head. "I know, I'm sorry it won't happen again." We quickly discuss strategy ear that practice begins. George drives fantastically today for a moment he is even faster than Max but this is short lived. "Should we get one more lap in Dad?" I wait for his answer, I slide the zipper of my vest down due to the tension I am starting to get hot. "One more push lap yes, after that come in, we need to save the tires."
"What do you have on your neck?" Lewis asks as he gets out of his car. I quickly try to hide my hickey. Lewis laughs. "We have so much to talk about after this weekend." "I'm not going to tell you everything though." Says I laughing. "No probably not, I think I already know most of it if I have to look at you like that, you're practically glowing." I smile as I think back to last night. "We went out to dinner with my dad." Leiws looks shocked. "Really?" "Yes really." Before we can continue our conversation my father approaches. "You should really keep your vest closed if we're going to talk to the media like this y/n." Says he with a crooked smile. Quickly I pull up the zipper of my vest and smile. Honestly, I didn't think my dad could react this way but I can tell by looking at him that he is trying his best to stay nice.
POV Carlos:
I see her walking into the room next to George, he has set a great time today and I am frankly amazed at George's developments. I see her playing with the zipper of her vest as she listens to to questions they asked to George, I am distracted from my own interview and am tapped by Rupert. "Carlos focus." I shake my head and apologize. "Can we ask you something about your connection to Toto Wolff's daughter?" I look a little surprised when this question is asked but then shake my head while my media team clearly lets me know that I better not answer this, I am still curious what they have to ask. "There are rumors that you get along well with each other what is true of this?" I exchange a look with her across the room as if seeking her approval to answer. I decide not to say anything about our relationship, as long as the question is not asked to us together I can always deny it. "We are good friends yes, y/n is sweet and has her heart in the right place." I smile at her as I utter these words. After my interviews I walk over to her. "Mi amor how was your first practice I ask her to the familiar." "George did his best but it was hard to catch up with you my love." She presses a kiss against my lips and I feel the butterflies in my stomach come back to life. I grab her hand and pull her back into the interview room with me, I don't want to hide us from the outside world anymore. As we walk in hand in hand there are plenty of people walking towards us. Pictures are taken and many questions are asked. "But y/n what does your father think about this and is George okay with your new relationship." "George and I broke up well, besides I'm his track engineer and if we didn't have a good relationship he wouldn't have gotten these results today, George and I trust each other 100% and what my dad thinks about it is none of your business I guess that has nothing to do with racing anymore." Her reply is fiercer than I expected, the tone in her voice is similar to her father's when he disagrees with something and I have to laugh at the similarities I see in them.
"Why did you laugh?" She asks as we walk back outside. "You look exactly like your father, mi amor." She raises her eyebrow. "Your voice and your facial expressions speak volumes." I suddenly notice my hickey on her neck and have to laugh even harder. "Did he see that?" I ask as I run my fingers over the spot on her neck. "Yes he saw that one." Says she with a laugh. "He wasn't even mad, I just had to make sure it wasn't visible." Says she afterwards with a laugh. I laugh at how the whole situation has shaped up over the past year, from her and her father who wanted nothing to do with me to a caring father who turned out to love his daughter a lot in the end, y/n being my girlfriend and both Mercedes drivers who both liked her, but she ultimately chose me, with those thoughts my day feels better than ever.
