Chapter Eleven: Contractions

Kevin's Point of View

It's been 7 months since we became officially together. Toby has been the greatest guy kahit na palagi akong masungit, or uptight, or masungit lang talaga ng walang dahilan. Sa kabilang dako naman ng istorya, manganganak na si Nicole.

She talked to our parents last week and briefly discussed with them that she is planning to give birth in the US. Sa totoo lang super practical ng idea niya na yun, my parents will get to know their first apo and witness the delivery firsthand. Plus maraming benefits na makukuha yung bata from the US Government. At present time, we're now prepping up because we will drive her to the airport.

"Oh bakit ka andito?" I asked Lester who went inside the car first.

"Uhm maghahatid din sana ako, asawa ko ata yun." He replied.

Aray. Ipamukha ba. Joke lang naman eh ang serious naman niya. </3 Kayo na ang mag-asawa. :(

I kissed my sis on the cheek and gave her tummy a few rubs before she hopped in the vehicle. "Please take care Nicole, I don't want the baby to get hurt."

"Yung baby lang? Nakalimutan mo na bang may nanay siya at may contractions na magaganap?" She joked.

I smiled and went to the passenger's seat.

"TOBY! GWAPO KA NA!" I shouted with all honesty.

"Coming, honey!" He shouted back. Siya nanaman ang designated driver.

I could feel the bone-chilling stare on my back.

"Bakit hindi ka sasama?" Toby asked Lester. Tagalog wow.

"May work pa kasi ako plus she isn't due in another month so hahabol na lang ako. Don't you miss home, brother?" Lester asked in return.

"I do, in fact I'll be coming back to secure a job and possibly bring Kevin with me". Toby held my hand but managed to keep his eyes straight on the road.

"Ooooh." Was Lester's reply.

When we arrived at the airport, Nicole still has 26 minutes to check in. Being a flight attendant herself, she has a frequent flyer card that made it a breeze and she was clear in less than 10 minutes.

"Delta Airlines Flight 276 bound from Manila to Narita passengers, please board the aircraft now."

"Bye! I love you guys! Toby batukan mo yang kapatid mo kapag nambabae ha! Kuya! I'll kiss Mama and Papa for you." She hugged us and carefully walked inside the departure area. Kawawa naman. Connecting flight siya.

The three of us, surrounded with dead air, walked awkwardly to the parking area. I offered Lester the passenger seat so it would be less awkward but..

"Kevin salamat pero I'll just stay here, I don't want to interrupt anything."

"Okay, if you say so. So tayong tatlo na lang. Where should we drop you?" Toby asked.

"Nasa bahay niyo pa kasi yung car ko so dun na lang." He replied sternly.

"Ay oo nga pala ikaw kasi Toby makakalimutin ka na." I grabbed Toby's hand.

"Honey, you blow my mind so much that I keep forgetting things."

I blushed. Lester cleared his throat. Toby remained oblivious.
