The President's Muse...

Chapter 13

___

It had been exactly 3 weeks since Nia Well's last saw Theodore Knocks. During this time, Theodore would frequently make late-night phone calls to Nia, disregarding talking about him self and solely concentrating on her. Nia couldn't help but notice this selflessness and, on one occasion, she attempted to redirect the conversation towards Theodore himself. However, it appeared that he was reluctant to discuss the ongoing election, as he swiftly changed the subject.

Nia had grown accustomed to Theodore's midnight calls, eagerly anticipating their conversations. Despite his exhaustion, Theodore always made an effort to inquire about Nia's day, demonstrating his genuine interest in her well-being. This thoughtful gesture did not go unnoticed by Nia, who appreciated his unwavering attention and care.

"Your mom wants to see you," Her dad's voice interrupts her train of thought, pulling her back to reality.

She takes a moment to collect herself, feeling a sense of heaviness settle in her chest. She reaches for her cup of tea, taking a small sip to calm her nerves before responding to her dad.
"The last time I did, she didn't even recognize me dad, you know I can't handle that,"

The last time she saw her, it was a heartbreaking experience as her mom didn't even recognize her. The pain of witnessing her own mother's inability to remember her was something she struggled to handle emotionally. It was a deeply distressing situation that left her feeling vulnerable and helpless.

"Right now,"

During the conversation, Nia's father left the room and returned with a pink baby blanket. "Take this with you, maybe it will help," Nia took the blanket from her father and couldn't help but smile as she remembered how much she loved her own blanket when she was a child. She had used it until it was too small to cover her toes, which was when she was eight years old.

"Just make an effort to see her Thursday okay?" Nia nodded, although Nia was still unsure about the situation, she agreed to try and make time for it. It was clear that she was hesitant, but her father's words seemed to have some impact on her.

"The election will start soon," as the election draws near, he turns his attention back to the TV. "The election will start soon,"

Today is the day that will determine the future of the country.

Nia wanted to assure him that she was closely following the proceedings and that he should remain calm and composed. Despite her genuine concern, he had not yet responded to her messages. However, Nia understood that he must be preoccupied with his responsibilities and the demands of the day.

As the day progressed, the news channels provided extensive coverage of the election. The broadcasts seemed to go on for hours, with updates pouring in from various states. One particular state, Myers, was clearly in the lead, while Theodore was facing a setback. However, when it came to the overall percentage, Theodore Knocks was still ahead, albeit by a narrow margin. This intriguing turn of events showcased the unpredictability and excitement of the electoral process.
