A horn was blown in the distance. All the kids in the cabin stood up and squeezed themself out the door almost all at once. Dinner had been long awaited by the teenagers. Travis and Connor, who I now knew weren't actually twins, but still shared the same mortal parent along with their father hermes, had spent the last three hours telling me how much fun cabin 11 and being a child of Hermes was, bragging about all of the amazing pranks they had pulled on other campers. The two were surprisingly funny. It felt like it had been only. Few minutes since I joined their game of cards. The group of us, together with the rest of camp. Reached the dining pavilion. Inside of the round, marble building where twelve long tables, all with a different color of table runner. Luke led as to the one with an orange one. The tables were set with a number of cups, plates and a set of silverware for each place, but neither food nor drinks were in sight. „I guess the food is still in the kitchen or something", I leaned towards Luke after we sat down, „but what are we supposed to drink?" „Well, what would you want to drink?", he asked me. „I would love some Fresa right now!", I said, staring at the empty glass in front of me. I had barely finished my sentence when the glass filled itself with a translucent, red liquid. Cautiously I took a sip of the drink and immediately realised that it was the exact drink I had just wished for. I must have looked extremely confused because Luke said: „shocked me the first time to. You can ask for anything, except alcoholic beverages." „And the food?" „Works the same way!"
After everyone at the table was done, we stood up, almost everyone's plate was still half full. Even I still had food left, even though I always tried to eat everything I take. The others took their plates and walked to a fire pit in the middle of the pavilion, scraping their leftover food into the flames. Confused I tapped Luke 's shoulder „What's this all about? I mean, I understand if you wanna safe trash, but why have fire right next to where everyone's eating?" „After every meal we sacrifice part of our food to the gods. As a offering, in a way!" „Oh ok" I still didn't understand the meaning of it but if it was an offering to the gods I decided it would be better not to argue.
