Chapter 1

"Alyssa! Mitch is waiting for you!" Even though my mom had lived in the States since she was six you could still hear her Mexican accent very clearly. I looked at the alarm clock next to my bed to check the time. It was 6:35! The bus to school left at 7! Mitch picked me up every day, but he had never been this early. I got up out of my bed and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. After I had put on my school uniform I went downstairs to greet Mitch. Except for his uniform he also wore a beige knitted jacket and a baseball cap on top of his curly brown hair! "Morning!", he said as I had reached the kitchen. "Hey, man!", I responded and gave him a high-five. He asked me: "Are you ready for the last three weeks of school?" as my mom handed him one of the leftover Veggie-Enchiladas she hab made for dinner yesterday. "I guess so", I replied, "If I don't do anything stupid and get expelled again!" "Oh come on! You can do it!" "Mija! You're late!", interrupted my mom us. I said Good-bye to her and Mitch and I sprinted to the Bus station. We caught it just on time. As we got out of the bus, our history teacher, Mr. Koloski stared at me weirdly. I realized him doing that a lot during the year. I felt like he hated me, because he kept giving me detention, even if I hadn't done anything wrong. "Come on! We gotta go to class!", said Mitch, which shook me out of my thoughts. After our history lessons, where we talked about Ancient Greece, Mr. Koloski asked me to meet him in his office. After I had entered and closed the door behind me, he started looking at me weird. Even though it wasn't the same type of weird I was used. His eyes seemed full of blood-thirst and hunger. They had also changed into two different colors. I watched as his body got a lot more hairy! He grew two big wings and a spiky tail. I was both confused and scared. I had no Idea what to do.
