Ever so gently, his index finger caressed the slope of her nose. Dark eyelashes batted under his blue gaze, cheeks went rosy, skin was warm. "How was it today?" He asked softly.
Hinata could fall into slumber under his touch. Both of their voices were quiet, in sweet whisper range. "It was okay. Remember that guy Danzo I told you about? Well, today he implied to some new investors that I was an intern. You should've seen the shock on their faces when they found out who I was."
She sighed closing her eyes, "And then he played it off by saying that it's just his age getting to him . But Shino walked me away from him before I could get a punch in."
Naruto chuckled. "It would be nice to know there's other men you hit aside from me."
Her lips quirked up, "Now that you mention it I think you're due for another assault." Hinata rolled them over on the bed but before she could tickle him- which he knew she was going to do- he grabbed her wrists and rolled them back to their original position. They both giggled and then within seconds got lost in each others stare.
Although she wouldn't mention it, Naruto could see the evidence in the slight darkness underneath Hinata's eyes. She was tired. Coming back to learn all the responsibility Hinata still has made Naruto disturbed.
Of course he understood, there was an impending doomsday in her life, a slow ticking time bomb. And everything she does now is to prepare for the worst. Even though her schedule is way way lighter than it was 8 months ago, she still has a decent amount of tasks.
Naruto watched Hinata take in a lot of phone calls or take an hour to just to send and respond to emails. Her and her father are really close. He'd catch her smiles while talking to him on the phone, and when it came to her and her sister? He lived to hear their phone banter. But sadness kept him up sometimes. It was days like today, where Hinata spent consecutive days into weekend handling business. He was beyond impressed, but it shouldn't be this way. And if or when that day comes where she is parentless, he couldn't watch her fall.
He wouldn't let her.
So as they were on her bed, he could tell she secretly felt guilty. Naruto wanted all this alone time with her and it really came down to scheduling it in. Hinata did find time for their 3- day rekindling, and he was very excited to have her to himself for all that time, but now that he saw the way things were, he realized he might have been acting a bit selfish.
Cause here Hinata was, reassuring they could spend time together and go out when she was trying to hide her exhaustion from the long Sunday she had.
