I more than expected to find her in her usual setting. Drunk out of her mind, but she was sitting in the chair in the dining room, shaking her leg from the nerves, holding a mug in her hands. Soft steam coming from the mug, and the kettle on the counter, tell me that she had a few coffees.
'Hi.' I announce myself, seeing how she didn't notice me yet.
'Angel.' She stood up, looking at me with her eyes wide open. Obvious bags under them is a sign she didn't sleep. Or it's just the thing that happens to alcoholics. They tend to be skinny, but their faces are all swollen up.
'Sit down. No need to stand up.' I'm gonna stay sharp and clear. I've had enough.
I sat down on the chair next to her, leaning back.
'Let's have that talk, shall we?'She already knows what this is gonna be. We had a few talks in the past, but this is a bit more serious. That's why she's so afraid, as she should be.
'Honey-'
'No. Shut up, and listen to me. I'm talking, and I don't wanna hear a word until I'm done.'
She just nodded, her eyes glossing over with tears.
'I'll keep it short and simple. I've had enough of this.' I start. 'I'm tired of your selfish behaviour. You've been destroying me for most of my life, and that it about to change. I was contemplating going to the police last night. I was headed there, all with my arm cut up, but I ended up changing routes.'
She gulped, opening her mouth to say something, but I cut her off.
'That being said, I want to tell you that I've found a place to move to. I have a job lined up as well if I need it. I'm more than willing to leave and leave you behind.' I am bluffing out of my mind, but I need a good leverage.
'This is your last chance, and either you fix yourself, or you're never going to see me again. I've had enough of cleaning up after you. You are a woman in her 40s. You should start acting like it. Instead, you act like a spoiled teenager. And I'm done. I'm done with the drinking, with the insults, with the attacks. All of it. I'm not gonna hesitate to call the police next time. Enough is enough.'
She was silently crying, her hands shaking.
'I'll give you a simple choice; me or the drinking. That's it. What's it gonna be?'
'You, honey. Always you!' She bawled, putting her hands on mine.
'Okay. Me it is. If I even so much as see you near the alcohol shelf, I'm packing my things, and that will be the last you'll ever see of me. Do I make myself clear?'
'Yes, yes. Please, baby. I'm so sorry.' She kept sobbing
'That means nothing right now. You've said that before. Countless times. You've said many things you never stuck to. And until you prove them right, that's all they are. Empty words.' I can't show sympathy. If I do, it's over.
'You have half an hour to clear everything you hid around the house. One thing. If I find one thing, I'm out through that door, and then you'll truly be alone. And this weekend, we are going to find you a place to go for your rehabilitation. And that's none negotiable.'
'Okay. Okay. I'll do it. I'll do all of it. I'm so sorry.' She bent down, kissing my hand repeatedly, but I pulled it away
'That's enough. Get to cleaning. I'll check it later. I'll be in my room. I have homework to do.'
I got up, and she got up with me, almost like a child after being scolded, which I suppose she was. But that ignored, I got up into my room, and for some damn reason dialed his number without thinking it through. I didn't even realise what I've done until I heard the voice on the other line.
'Hello?'
His sweet voice filled my mind in a millisecond. A bit deeper voice than what I'm used to hearing, but it's him.
'H-hi. It's me.' I finally got the words out
'Angel, hi-hello.' His voice went up a bit. 'Are you okay? Did something happen?'
'No, no. I'm okay. I'm just- I don't know why I called to be honest.' I mumble
'Did you talk to her?'
'Yes. I may of may not have threatened to leave. At the moment it seems like it worked, but with her, it's never a sure thing. It may fail by tomorrow.' I sigh, laying down on my bed
'You feeling okay?'
Hearing his voice makes it all better. When did that become a thing?
'Now I am. Thank you for listening to me babbling. And sorry for calling.''Do you want me to come over and flick you for apologizing or should I do it tomorrow?'
That one made me laugh.
'Yeah, I'd rather skip on it altogether.'He giggled in that cute way, having me giggle along with him.
'JIMINIEE! I'M STUCK! MY HEAD IS STUCK!'
Yujin screamed in the background, making me laugh as Jimin just sighed in defeat.
'Sorry about that. The little idiot tried to pull a sleeve over his head in a hurry. Let me just save him quickly. 5 seconds.'
I heard him put down his phone, listening to the noise in the background.
'You need to hurry less. The park won't run away.'
'But my friends are waiting!'
'They'll only wait longer if you strangle yourself with your shirt. You need to slow down.'
'But you save me, so I'll be okay.'
'But if I'm not here, who's gonna save you then?'Their little conversation brought me so many giggles. He's gonna be an amazing father one day.
'Your phone is laughing.'
I guess he can hear me. And I can hear them. Jimin laughing.
'It's not my phone, Yujin. It's someone on the phone.'
'Is it Taehyung hyung?'
'No. It's Angel. You remember the noona from the other day?'
'Aaaah! The noona with pretty eyes!'This kid is adorable.
'Yes, that one.'
'Can she come over and play games with me?'
'I thought you were in a hurry up go to park.'
'I'll bring my game to a park! Can noona come with us?'
'Why don't you ask her?'I heard little footsteps, and then rustling on the other one before a cute voice popped into my ear.
'Noona? Are you there?'
'Yes. I'm here.' I laugh a little
'Do you wanna come and play with us in the park?'
'Of course.' I can't help but chuckle at him
'Jiminie, Jiminie, she said yes!' He was clapping for some reason, and apparently dropped the phone, based on the rustling and the muffled voice
'Okay, buddy, excitement down. She is still on the line. It's rude to drop the phone like that. You need to say goodbye properly.' Jimin was half laughing, half explaining it to him
More rustling came, but it was Jimin who picked up.
'Sorry. He got excited and ran off to get his games. You got yourself in a world of trouble.''It's okay. He is adorable.' I laugh. 'I guess I'll see you at the park then. Can't disappoint the little one.'
He giggled a little himself. 'See you in the park.'
