Sonic looked up at the large cylinder, his emerald eyes seeming to shine with wonder at the sight of it. Tails came around the corner with Amy and Shadow in tow, the fox's tails whirling around to keep him off the ground as he made his way towards Sonic.
"Let me guess! You thought 'Hey, Sonic's turning nineteen soon! He's responsible enough now' and you got me a pet dinosaur!" He exclaimed and dashed away from his friend. Tails' ears drooped. "Uh, no... I haven't quite figured out how to clone dinosaurs just yet. Sorry, Sonic," he explained and rubbed the back of his head. Sonic glanced back at him and shrugged, returning to the kitsune's side.
"Oh well, now you know for next year!" He landed a punch on Tails' shoulder, the fox groaning lightly from the unusually harsh blow. Shadow noticed this. Must be the mutations messing with his strength. Amy brushed past the dark hedgehog and wandered towards the dino can. "Oh, Sonic, Tails told me that the inside looks really funky! Why don't you step in and have a look for yourself? I'm too scared," she said. Tails tapped a few things into the motherboard on the base of the cylinder, watching as a rectangular area of the chamber detached itself from the rest and slid to the side with a soft pshht sound, some steam being exerted from the contraption.
Sonic raised a brow at the female. "Uh... Scared of what?" She waved her hand nonchalantly. "Oh, you know Tails and his pranks! Just get in there and tell me what you see!" Her gloved hands met with Sonic's back, shoving him into the container. Sonic just rolled his eyes and took a few steps. "I don't see anything particularly eye-catching-" He was cut off by the sound of the glass door sealing itself shut, locking him inside the canister. Both of his ears dropped and he whipped around to stare at the three mobians.
"Hey! What gives!?" he yelled. One of his hands slammed against the glass to emphasize his discontent. Tails winced. "Sorry, Sonic... It's just for tonight." Sonic looked absolutely baffled. "What!? Why!? What happened!? Tails, you said I was clear of rabies! That dog wasn't carrying anything!" Shadow ignored the hedgehog's unrelenting complaints, and simply turned himself towards the foxling. "Does that thing have a DNA scanner?" Miles nodded.
"Yep. It has one built in, along with several other things, so that Eggman could make adjustments to the chromosomes and mutations of the dinosaur, if it ever came to be, which it didn't." Shadow hummed and rested his crutches against the desk. "That quill you picked up earlier. Can you analyze that and see if it matches with Sonic's?" Sonic glared at the two while Amy just stared at him somewhat apologetically. "What are you two talking about? What quill?" he called, only to be ignored once again.
His green gaze shifted towards Amy, a small grin growing on his face. "Amy~ Sweetheart, if you let me out, I'll-"
"Absolutely not," she stopped him, her eyes half-lidded with disinterest. "This is important and I've fallen for your mean tricks too many times. This time I won't be swayed." Sonic's ears drooped again."Huh... That's weird," Tails spoke to Shadow in a hushed tone as Amy approached the duo, deciding that it wouldn't hurt to listen in on the conversation. "This has almost exactly the same DNA strand as Sonic's current one, only with a single change. That nucleotide is now adenine," he explained and pointed at what he was referring to. "Some serious mutations have gone on here... Even though they're not exactly noticeable..."
Shadow huffed. They most certainly would be.
The dark hedgehog couldn't help his gaze from wandering towards Sonic, their eyes locking in an angry stare-down. "Why are we doing this exactly?" Sonic growled lowly. Shadow had to debate on wether or not he should mention anything about the mobian Sonic had eaten, but it was quickly decided when a small screen next to Tails' computer fizzled to life and a news reporter began to speak.
