A vicious growl resonated throughout the garage, grating against Shadow's ears. The dark hedgie backed up, keeping his gun aimed at Sonic. He lumbered closer and closer to him. Fanges bared. Hunger burning in his eyes. Shadow smirked and placed a hand on his hip, showing off his entire form to the beast. Sonic's tongue swiped over his jaws.

Shadow raised an eyeridge suspiciously, "So this really is what you want?" His free hand ran down his chest suggestively. Sonic's body twitched in some areas, like a horse trying to shake a fly from its skin. He kept his emerald gaze frozen on Shadow's, ears raised and senses alert.

Shadow growled. "Fine." His skates' rockets lit up, raising him a couple of inches off the ground, taking some pressure off of his injured foot. "But you'll have to catch me first." Sonic slammed his front paws into the ground and let out a mighty roar, his ears pinned back and a look Shadow couldn't decipher in his eyes. Shadow returned a soft snarl and took off. At least this way he wouldn't risk twisting his ankle again.

His ears twitched at the noise of Sonic's heavy strides, the hog keeping down on all fours for as much speed he could muster in this clumsy form. This won't be a fair race once we make it to the woods. My foot will get caught again. I need to slow him down if I want to stay out of his reach, all while leading him away from the city.

Shadow glanced over his shoulder every now and then to be sure Sonic was in tow; he stuck to deserted streets and quiet alleyways to avoid alerting the city of this peculiar danger. In all honesty, Shadow was shocked that this beast was so fixated on him. There were so many other damn mobians, so why the in the name of Chaos was it him? He couldn't even use the excuse of being the only one around. Sonic had captured, murdered, and eaten a mobian for fuck's sake.

Shadow kept gliding through the city, right through Station Square and towards the forest. He could almost see it in the darkness of night, his frown remaining glued to his face. Sonic was, thankfully, still behind him, keeping up surprisingly well. The ebony hedgehog took a sharp turn down an alleyway, a quiet shortcut to the safety of the woods. Sonic's paws scrabbled around awkwardly on the ground to try and replicate the turn, almost tripping over himself before he managed to pick up his pace once more.

The forest's treeline seemed to loom out of the dark like a massive monster, Shadow's lungs filling with a breath of fresh air. He glanced down at his gun and closed his eyes. Sorry about this, Sonic. Not wishing to drag this out any longer, the dark hedgehog turned around and began skating backwards, watching as Sonic continued to pursue him. He exhaled weakly and raised the pistol, looking down the barrel as he took aim.

He closed his eyes once he was certain, and pulled the trigger. Without even checking to see if it had hit, be whipped back around and darted into the woods, allowing his skates to extinguish themselves before continuing to run. He felt more than relieved when it didn't hurt as much to put weight on his foot; he just had to make sure he didn't twist it again. Shadow winced upon hearing the howl of pain that tore through Sonic's chest when the bullet impacted with his shoulder, sending the hound stumbling forwards.

"Yep... You're gonna feel that in the morning," Shadow mumbled to himself, frowning. Despite having needed to resort to such a violent option, Shadow continued on. And the sound of Sonic's ragged pants echoing through the trees allowed him to confirm that he was still trying to follow, even after being shot.

As Shadow ventured deeper into the forest, and further from the city, he could have sworn luck was on his side when he discovered a wolf mauling a deer's hind leg while it moaned in pain. The hedgehog didn't hesitate to shoot the wolf dead in the head before he hurried to the doe and snapped her other, non-injured, hind leg. Leaving her paralyzed. He proceeded to drag the wolf away, quickly returning to the deer once he had disposed of the canine, and beginning to run his hands all throughout her fur. A strong scent in one area would be the best way to attract Sonic and keep him still. Hopefully.
