Bani's POV

"Kal aap puri tarah se mere rang main rangnewali hein Bani."

The message popped up and my breathe hitched.

This feeling was beautiful. The feeling of entwined destiny and the long path of life with a partner who would understand and respect you. A person who would stand by you.

After all that is what I learnt from my parents - Tej Sharma and Jahnvi Sharma. My parents loved each other alot. My dad always doted on me and my mother while my mom was the most supportive partner anyone could ever have.

My parent's had told me about the red string of love that connects two people. No matter how long it stretched due to adversities but it remained hooked on our pinky finger.

Unfortunately, the thread of life was more fragile than the red string of love.
I lost my mother due to heart attack. The most dreadful day of my life.

But even death could not kill the love that our family shared.

And now I was going to experience that love.

I quickly picked up my phone and replied.

"Main toh peheli nazar main hi aapke rang main rang gayi thi."

"Aur yahan mujhe lag raha tha ki bas mujhe hi peheli nazar main aapse mohhabat hogayi. "

He replied and I blushed.

" Jhute, peheli nazar main toh aapne mujhe dekha bhi nahi tha. "

I said remembering the first day he came to see me. He was dressed in an all black suit and a watch on his right wrist. He was continuously looking at the time, as if he wanted to get away or maybe he was just nervous and I was overthinking. His perfectly gelled hair and the veins popping out of his arm.

My mind involuntarily registered everything but somewhere I was longing for our gaze to meet.

" Beta, chai do "

Dad said and I extended my hand to give the cup first to Balwant uncle. Balwant uncle was Dad's childhood friend.

"Thank you Beta "

Balwant uncle said with a smile.
Then I served it to Chandrakala aunty.

"Thank you Bani."

Finally I extended my hand to give the cup to him. He slowly looked up as our gaze met. His icy grey eyes pierced my soul. He lightly extended his hand as our hands brushed and a tingling feeling developed within me.

But as soon as the next words left from his mouth, I felt a little prick in my heart.

"Sorry, I prefer Coffee. "

He said returning it back to me
.
"Beta, Bani ne itne pyar se banaya hein. Pi le. "

Chandrakala aunty said.

"Idhar aa beta "

Uncle said as he picked something from his pocket.

"Itni sundar chai banayi hein tumne, nek toh banta hein. "

He said handing me some money.

"Uncle iski kya zarurat hein? "

I said politely.

"Beta, Balwant ka aashirvaad hein rakhlo"

I smiled and took it.

"Sach much beta, jitna meetha tumhara swabhav hein, utni hi meethi ye chai hein."

Chandrakala aunty said kissing on my forehead.

"Mom you have sugar. Why did you even have it?"

He said looking at his mom and somewhere I felt really guilty. I guess he didn't like me. That's what I had thought back then.

"Chup kar, thode se kuch nahi hota "

Aunty said

"Maaf karna beta par humare teeno beto ko kuch zyada hi chinta hoti hein humari."

Uncle said and I nodded saying it's fine. I actually understand, there was nothing to be hurt about it. He just cared for his parents just like I did.

"Aapke baki dono bete nahi aaye? "

Dad asked.

"Humari bahu Bela ki delivery honi wali hein, toh humara beta Mahir aur bahu abhi apne maike main hein."

"Aur humara dusra beta, iska judwa. Woh abhi company ke kuch deal ke wajah se busy hein, isiliye kaam ke wajah se aa nahi paya. "

Uncle said.

"Accha abb bohot batein hogayi. Jao abb dono ek dusre se baat karlo, ek dusre ko jaan lo. "

Aunty said and I lowered my gaze. I wanted to know how he felt about this whole situation as I couldn't read his placid expression.

"It's alright Mom, we have seen each other and maybe we can do the remaining talking on text. "

He said not looking at me.

"Bani bacha are you fine with this? "

Uncle asked.

I nodded in confirmation. Maybe he was an introvert and wanted to take things slow.Honestly I didn't mind. It was not like I was madly in love with him but yes I had taken a liking to him.

Reason? Well I didn't know why. Maybe my old school lover syndrome was activated again and considering that's exactly how my parents had gotten married, I was looking forward to this entire meet up.

They got up. Uncle and Dad hugged.

"Humari taraf se toh haan. Bani beta tumhare jawab ka intezar rahega."

Uncle said.

But they didn't even ask him. Was he forced into getting married. I had thought back then.

At night

I was sitting near my window as the moonlight fell on me. Watching the night sky was something in which I found my solitude. Because no matter how much darkness exist in our life, people like stars will always lighten up your sky of life.

My hand was continuously moving around my phone in wait of the text.

"Why is this impacting me so much? Come on Bani you are better than this. "

I sighed and got up when suddenly the phone beeped and I ran to take the phone in my hand.

Maybe I was'nt that better after all. I chuckled at my own thought.

I immediately checked the text which said :

Hello Bani!

My heart started racing.
