Chapter 10

Ron's POV :

I got on the block. Water was shining, inviting me to feel it again on my body. The cool breeze brushed my wet body making me shiver a little. I took a deep breath. I can do it, I thought.

I trained for four hours a day that is two hrs in the morning and two hrs in the evening, doing up to as much as 20,000 yards in one day. I had to swim a race for 22 seconds or less. Right now my best record is 24.15 seconds. I wanted to focus on my target but I couldn't. My mind was somewhere else. On Ash. She had to go alone in these days because of my training. She understood the need for training. She wanted me to win and I would never fail her. My lips formed a smile when an image came in my mind of her with her sweet smile that caused dimples on her cheek and the way she rolled her eyes.

I closed my eyes and spread my arms enjoying the feel of cool breeze and evening sun rays on my wet body.

"This is a last round boy. I want you to concentrate on your goal of breaking your record." Coach yelled from the other side of the pool. If I had a chance, I would have punched right on his face. He just goes on sucking my brain. What the flying f*ck he expects me to do? I still remember how he had treated Ash on the other day she had come to meet me here. I clenched my fist in anger.

I prepared myself for the dive. The gun went off and from that point on, my body and mind went into autopilot. I dived into water circling my arms forward alternately and kicking my feet up and down about a foot apart. I poured all my anger into it. I loved to feel the water on my hands and rushing past every part of my body as I make my way down the length of the pool. When I get behind the starting block, my mind becomes extremely peaceful.

I touched the wall and looked up at the coach. I knew I had done it with the expression coach had held.

"Excellent!!" Coach exclaimed. "It's 23.02 seconds. You are very close to it Ronald. Few more practices and you will achieve it. Now you may leave" he turned to others and continued. "Enough for today. You all may leave."

"Hey dude. That was amazing." One of our team said clapping his hands while others patted me on my back.

"Excellent Ron. But coach is freaking damn sucker." Other one said with a broad grin.

"Yeah I agree." I replied and started my way to the gym locker room. I removed my phone and checked for any miscall. There it was. I knew she would call. I smiled and as I was making my way and bumped into someone.

"whoa...sorr-" I trailed off to see Mitzy in all panic.

"Gosh Ron!!!! I was coming to you only." She explained in a hurry voice.

"Why? What's the matter?"

"I'll explain. But first you change. I and Rendal will wait for you in the parking lot." And she ran before I could open my mouth to say something. I shook my head and went to the locker room. I changed and came out to meet them in the parking lot. The whole way I wondered what must be the problem.

"Hey, am here. Tell me, what happened?" I asked Mitzy.

"Ron, it's Ash."

"What about her?" I asked now fully alert.

"had you tried to call her now?"

"No. but there were her miscalls. What's the matter Mitzy? Why don't you say it?"

"Ron, Ash had called after she few minutes she left from school. But when I received it, the call went dead. I tried to call her again but it comes switched off. And I tried her home landline but no one received it."
