Ron's POV:

Pulling on some random t-shirt and a track pant, I headed downstairs. I entered into the kitchen where my mum was busy in cooking dinner. I wasn't surprised to find her there. Though we had servants to look after the kitchen work, my mum crazily enjoyed cooking and so she never missed the chance to cook, especially on Sundays.

"Hey mum," I said, grabbing one apple from the bowl of fruits placed on the table. I had a sudden realization that I was hungry and needed something to eat. I perked myself up on the kitchen counter and readied myself to bite the apple.

My mum slapped my hands. "Keep it back in the bowl and eat this." She placed a bowl of cereals on the dining table, gesturing me to eat it.

"Mum, I don't want cereals. This apple is enough to please my growling stomach."

"And beer too?" she said placing her hands on her hips. Her stern gaze through her emerald eyes demanded an explanation for my last night's acts. "I am sure you won't deny beer if I offer it to you right now." She cocked her eyebrow as she said it.

"Mum, I was at party. There were so many guys around me drinking, enjoying the night. How could I resist myself?" I tried to sound convincing enough, but her raised eyebrows showed me she didn't believe.

"From when did you become a party-boy? You were Ash's ride home, Ron. I never expected you to be so much irresponsible. I never expected you to come all drunk at home." Her face contorted in sadness as she turned and resumed her work.

A feeling of guilt tugged inside me. Although I had given her many moments of disappointment, I couldn't see her sad. I stood up and hugged her from behind, placing my head on her shoulder. "I am sorry, Mum. I lost the count of drinks. But I promise it's the first and last mistake."

She sighed and placed her palm on my cheek before replying, "Your dad is truly angry on you. We had some guests-our Canadian business delegates- at home yesterday for dinner. They were about to leave when you showed up at the door in a state we expected least."

A sudden feeling of uneasiness ran through my nerves. I knew what that meant. Unwittingly, I had dug a pit for myself. My dad wasn't a strict person, but matters something like these were as serious as a joke by Adolf Hitler. Again a very bad comparison! It was unpredictable how he would react to this as this mistake was something I had ever done. But there were unwanted eyewitnesses and so I guessed whatever reaction he would give would be far away from okay.

"Where is he right now?" I asked her, noticing the calmness in the house which was short-lasting.

"He is gone for the meeting with same delegates," my mum said while pulling out food from the oven. The scrumptious aroma of roasted chicken lingered in the entire kitchen. My mouth watered in the anticipation, but I knew I had to wait till dinner to savor the taste of it. "Now, stop avoiding cereals. Finish it fast." Mum feigned a glare. Unlike my dad, my mum faced every situation calmly. She never raised her voice. Whenever I did mistakes, however big those mistakes were, she never yelled at me. She had her own way to handle me and it worked every time. I never repeated those mistakes cause of the guilt she made me go through that time. She was the best mother one could ever have and I was lucky to have her.

I whined, but obeyed her.

"Poor, Girl! I don't know how she managed to drag you here."

"What are you talking about?" I asked swallowing a mouthful of cereals which tasted like medicine now as I mentally compared it to the delicious roasted chicken.
