Firey's POV:
"LEAFY!" I shouted as I saw this Paula lady hold Leafy under the water. Oh my oxygen, what do I do?! I couldn't just let her drown! I did what I had to do. Even if it meant facing one of my biggest fears. Because water isn't truly my biggest fear.

Losing my best friend is.

I ran into the water and swam as fast as possible, only focusing on saving Leafy. Once I reached them, Paula saw me. She kicked me in the stomach as she held Leafy under the water. I forced myself in between Leafy and Paula and got Paula to release her grip on Leafy. I brought Leafy's head above the surface of the water and, as fast as possible, swam back to shore. I quickly carried Leafy to our beach stuff and set her down on a towel on the sand. Her body was still and lifeless looking. "No... No no no no no she can't be dead, she can't be!" I quietly exclaimed, tears slowly forming in my eyes. Then, I remembered something. I know CPR... Thank goodness my mother taught me this! The rest of my friends had run over to us. "LEAFY!" Needle shouted as she ran. The rest of our group had the same reaction. Lots of people had gathered around by then. I then quickly started to perform CPR. "Please please please please please," I kept repeating to myself. I was just about to do mouth-to-mouth when I heard the most amazing sound of my life. She coughed. She was alive. She coughed a few times, spitting out water next to her in the process. "OH MY OXYGEN THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE ALIVE!!!" I suddenly exclaimed, hugging Leafy tightly. I felt Leafy hug me back. The most wonderful thing I've felt in my life. "Firey... What happened...?" she asked. I told her about how she tried to protect Amy and how Paula tried to drown her. Then I told her that I got in the water to save her. And that I performed CPR. "Oh my tree... Firey... You saved my life... Again... And you faced your biggest fear to do it..." Leafy said, looking at me in awe. "Leafy, water was my second biggest fear... Losing you is my biggest fear..." I told her. She smiled and she hugged me again. I hugged her back, never wanted to let go again. I could feel her warm tears as they flowed down her face, but I could tell they were happy tears. "You..." I suddenly heard an angry voice. I looked up and saw Paula. "You... Are going... To pay..." Paula growled. She was holding a closed umbrella and looked like she was about to beat me with it. I held an arm above me to protect myself and closed my eyes, but I never felt anything hit me. I opened my eyes and saw a police officer behind Paula, holding Paula's wrists. "Ma'am, you're under arrest for child abuse and attempted murder," the police officer said. He then handcuffed Paula. "You two alright?" he asked Leafy and me. We both nodded. "Thanks officer," Leafy said. "Just doing my job," he replied. "Wait, where's Amy gonna go?" Leafy asked. "Well, I suppose she may have to go to an orphanage or if she has other family, she may go to live with them," the officer told her. "I suppose right now, you could take her with you to get some food later if you wanted to," he also said. He then took Paula to his police car. I saw Amy run over to us. "Leafy!" she exclaimed. She hugged her. Leafy hugged her back. "Thank you Leafy, for saving me from Auntie Paula," I heard Amy say. "You're very welcome Amy," Leafy responded. I looked up and saw the News Station Crew right by us. "I'm Camera Newsworthy (A/N: It has nothing to do with any object named Camera), on Channel 4 News," a woman said. "26 year old Paula Alderman has just been arrested for child abuse of her own niece, Amelia Alderman, and attempted murder of this young woman sitting right here," she said, pointing to Leafy. "Excuse me ma'am, what is your name and age?" she asked. "Leafy Evergreen, and I'm sixteen," Leafy answered. "Well Leafy, tell us what happened out in the water," Camera said. "Well, I was trying to protect Amy from Paula, but then Paula chased me. I ran into the water and nearly drowned. Firey Flame here, saved me from sure death," Leafy said, looking at me. "Well Firey, what a brave thing for you to do. What caused you to save Leafy?" Camera asked, holding a microphone to me. "Well, Leafy's my best friend, so I couldn't just let her drown. Even though I have a fear of water, I knew I had to save her," I explained. "So tell me, are you two in some sort of relationship currently?" Camera asked. Both of our eyes widened. "Oh! No, we're just f-friends that's a-all," Leafy said. "Y-yeah... Just best friends... That's all...!" I said afterwards. Camera asked us a few more questions, and then she and the crew eventually left. "Wow... We were on the news!" Leafy exclaimed once they left. "Yeah! That was cool!" I said. "Hey... Leafy?" I asked. "Yeah?" she answered. "I think... I don't think I'm scared of water anymore..." I told her. "Really? So... Does that mean you'll actually get in the water now?" she asked. I nodded. A smile formed on her face, one of the happiest smiles I had ever seen. "Yay! You've gotten over your fear! Now, we have to get over your fear of heights," she said. Uh oh... That's another one of my fears... Heights... Leafy laughed. "I'm just kidding!" she said. I sighed a sigh of relief and then laughed also. She then stood up. "Race you to the water!" she exclaimed, then started running. "Hey! No fair!" I said as I stood up and ran after her. I saw her run into the water but she completely disappeared. "Leafy...?" I said. I got in the water and looked around. "Leafy?" I asked again. No response. I suddenly felt something, or someone, hug me from behind me. I jumped in surprise and turned around. "There you are! You had me worried for a sec..." I said, seeing Leafy. She laughed. "OMZ that face was priceless," she said, giggling. I quickly smirked. Revenge time... I thought to myself. I picked her up so she was completely out of the water. "Hey! Put me down!" she exclaimed. I laughed. "Okay," I said, then tossed her into the water. She screamed and fell back into the water. She came back to the surface and said, "Very funny Firey!" in a jokingly annoyed tone. I just laughed some more. She laughed too and splashed water on me. I splashed water on her too. Soon, all of our friends got back into the water, including Amy. Amy hung around Leafy towards the beginning, but once I found her this really pretty shell, she seemed to trust me a lot more. I guess it helps that she knows I'm the one who saved Leafy, but still. We all had fun for quite a while after that, playing in the water and sand. I then saw a cart passing by. I decided to go see what they were selling. I saw a second one that was clearly selling lemonade. "Hey, I'm gonna go get some lemonade. Anyone want a cup?" I asked. All of my friends, including Amy, said yes. I went to my stuff and got my wallet. I walked over to the lemonade cart. I bought eight lemonades. They were having a sale, buy three, get one free. So I basically paid for six lemonades and got two free. Good thing they have those cup carrier things there, otherwise it would've been way too hard to carry them. I brought the lemonades over to our stuff, and saw everyone was sitting there now. I handed everyone a lemonade. "I'll be right back, I saw something and I wanted to check it out," I told them, and walked away with my lemonade. I walked to the other cart and looked at it. They were seashell bracelets. I decided to buy two, one for me, and one for Leafy. I bought two of them and started walked back to the group. About halfway there, I saw Leafy running towards me. Once she reached me, she asked, "Hey! What was at the cart you just went to?" I smiled. "These," I replied, showing her the two bracelets. I grabbed Leafy's hand and placed the bracelet on her wrist. I then put the other bracelet on my wrist. "Wow... They're so pretty... You really bought this for me?" she asked. I nodded. She smiled. "Thank you," she told me. I smiled again. We then walked back to our friends.
