Leafy's POV:
"Um, hi......." I said nervously. "Hey," responded a harsh voice. "I, like, heard you were, like, auditioning for, like, the play." I looked up and saw that it was Match, one of the most popular girls in school. "I also, like, heard that you're, like, auditioning for, like, Juliet. Well, listen, like, here Leafy Evergreen, I'm so, like, getting that role and you're, like, not getting it!" she hissed. I gulped but then gave a smile and responded, "We'll see who gets the role. Good luck to you, Match." She gave me a look of annoyance and confusion as I walked back to class.Firey's POV:
I am so bored. English is one of my worst subjects. I mean, really, why should I know how to find grammar mistakes? I don't plan on being an editor. While I tried working in my workbook, I heard the door open. Leafy was back from the water fountain. She looked a bit flustered and troubled. She looked over at me and I gave her a look of concern. She gave a smile at me that looked like she was okay. I smiled back and continued working. About ten minutes later, the bell rang. I stood up and walked over to Leafy. "Hey, is something wrong?" I asked her. She didn't answer at first but then quietly said, "No, everything's just fine." She then looked up and she gave me another smile. I laughed and walked with her to the lockers.Leafy's POV:
Firey's locker is right next to mine. This makes it easy to talk to him while we're at the lockers. In fact, I tell him almost everything. But this time, I didn't want to tell him about what Match said. I didn't want him to worry about me. "Leafy, are you sure you're okay? You seem a bit worried," he asked me again. "I told you, I'm okay," I responded with a look of assurance. "You don't have to worry about me." "Leafy, you're my best friend. I should worry about you. And I do sometimes! But if you're okay, then I won't worry." He then gave me a charming smile. I really like that smile. I've secretly had a crush on him since fifth grade. We're in tenth grade and I still haven't told him. It's been five years. We've been best friends since first grade. I've known him for nine years and I still don't have the courage to tell him. I pushed that thought out of my head and asked Firey how he was doing in English class. "Terrible," he responded. "I'm pretty sure it's one of my worst subjects." "I'm sure you not doing that terribly," I told him, hoping he would feel better. "I have a D+ in that class. Does that sound like it's good to you?" he continued. "Well, it's better than Snowball. He has an F," I said slowly. "He always has bad grades. He's not very smart," Firey said with a laugh. "WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!" called out a loud voice. I suddenly got really worried. I looked at Firey and saw that face suddenly went pale. "Are you going to be alright?" I asked him quietly. He responded slowly, "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me........"Author's Note: Another cliffhanger. Sorta. But I think you know who said that. I hope you enjoy this chapter! Please review!
