The chance encounter

I woke up to an empty house and decided that today i would train again.

Y/n: I need to train

I went on a run to work on my breathing a bit more after running around the island for a while I went to my favorite training spot. Luckily it was a bit out of the way from the others. As I was starting my warmup I saw an old man starting to walk by. I guess he saw me and then he started to walk up to me. Then I saw his face and recognised who he was.

Iroh: What are you doing young man

Y/n: Oh general iroh I was just training.

Iroh: What is your name young man?Also, training what exactly?

Y/n: My name is Y/n L/n. I said while starting to bow

I was about to go into an explanation until I thought about just showing him

Y/n: Would you like a demonstration?

Iroh: I would love to see a demonstration if you don't mind.

I went through the basics that I had mastered and then worked on the more advanced moves that I had learned from Dad's old notebook. The way that he described them and even tried to envision my father mirroring me.

Y/n:*Burning god* I said as I pushed my palm in front of me into my target's abdomen. At first, the flames were low, and after a split second, I increased the flames as the once whole dummy now had a hole in the center of it.

Iroh: Now that was something new an attack that has a delay to it.Also blue flames at such a young age.

Y/n: It was a move that my father wrote down I added the delay to it his is more of an impact punch. I was able to do so however according to my father's journal I should have the potential to do more with the flames.

Iroh: I would like to have a conversation with him over a pot of tea.

Y/n: That would be a bit difficult

Iroh: Why is that

Y/n: Because he is gone Also ran out of tea

Iroh: Oh I'm sorry to hear that

Y/n: You didn't know. He was a soldier in the Fire Nation Army

Iroh: So you added the delay to the attack?

Y/n: The delay was originally to make up for my lack of control of generating flames quickly. I was able to generate flames quickly after a while I think it took me about two weeks to learn that

Iroh:(This boy understood his limits and found a way around them.) Y/n I would like to ask if you would like some pointers on your form

Y/n: I would appreciate that greatly

Iroh then told me about a few things that I could do to have my form close to perfect. He also taught me how to use more advanced moves

Y/n: Thank you for the advice I will be sure to practice more

A few days passed and Iroh came to visit me and mentor me about where I was messing up and how to fix it. We would train and tell stories about either life or random things over tea. Iroh believes that I am advancing at a high rate so he gave me some lessons on more advanced techniques like generating lightning and redirecting it

Y/n: Iroh I thank you for teaching me

Iroh: It's no trouble you remind me of someone I know however you have humility
