Robert

I stumbled into the cabin, my eyes puffy from sleep.

Xavier was sitting by the window, his eyes trained blankly on the clouds. Desperate to know what was for dinner, I forced myself out of my languid state and stumbled across the aisle. My gaze settled on a stunning blonde standing in the back of the plane. She had curves in all the right places, and I couldn't help but ogle her for a moment.

"Hello" I uttered before clearing my throat and asking her professionally,"What's for dinner?"

Her smile captivated me as she answered, and I barely heard her words as I stood there entranced. She looked at me nervously, her cheeks flushed with a color that darkened and spread like wildfire. A woman with such beauty must be used to men reacting to her presence like this, yet here she was melting away for me.

In a fraction of a second she composed herself and was back to her professional self which informed me of her being well-versed in my reputation. Xavier and I were both known for our rakish ways. Her sudden change in attitude was evidence that she understood that any tryst with us would only be for one night and the morning sun would bring a harsh reminder of reality.

She shook her head a little and I could see her trying very hard to brush away her errant thoughts.Clearing her throat she spoke with a forced steadiness in her voice.

"Please be seated sir; your dinner will arrive shortly."

"Famished" I purred, running my tongue along my bottom lip in a gesture of invitation, daring her to make the wrong decision.

She blushed in response, but kept her composure. Her breathing was shallow, reflective of her inner turmoil. She turned away abruptly and hurried back to her post. My gaze followed her as she walked away, the curves of her body an ode to temptation.

As I made my way back to my seat, Xavier was still motionless, his eyes glued to the clouds, while Sam snored unhurriedly next to him.

I began feeling uncomfortable for no reason in particular.the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end.

"What's going on?" I nervously asked, but Xavier remained still and silent, not giving even the slightest indication that he'd heard me.

"I guess we'll reach New Delhi in about thirty minutes," I persisted.

He finally gave a low grunt of acknowledgement, but it was too late - his lack of reaction had already filled me with an oppressive sense of unease. The air seemed to thicken, and the temperature felt to have dropped.

I could feel Xavier's dark mood, like a physical presence, darkening the surroundings.

"Xavier seems moody tonight, but that's nothing new" I heard Sam's sleepy voice trying to console me.

I attempted to offer a reassuring smile, but my stomach twisted with an uncomfortable knot of emotion. I cared deeply for Xavier, beyond what words could ever express, but I could never quite explain why I felt such a deep sense of apprehension. It seemed to be something innate that only I understood, something that couldn't be put into words.

Xavier finally turned his gaze to me, and I was struck with a paralyzing fear. His piercing eyes tried to unearth the truth of what had transpired and he knew it. His body shook with agitation as he rose from his seat and bolted towards the restroom, clawing through his coat's pocket for the pills that he so desperately needed.
