Xavier
It is dead of night, and I am running through the woods.
A relentless hungerling in my gut forces me to keep running. I can feel my pulse racing, feel my blood blazing through my veins.
The darkness wraps around me like a hungry beast, a deep desire to find
something or someone drawing me in.
Suddenly, there is a spark and I follow it, realization slowly dawning on me that I am chasing someone. As I get closer, I can make out the silhouette of a person with long dark hair flowing behind them.
"Wait!" I cry out into the night air, desperately hoping that they'll hear me.
The figure turns around and as our eyes meet, my heart jumps into my throat.
It's a woman - her eyes an endless black abyss filled with fear and anger. I almost gasp when I see her mesmerizing beauty; her nose a cute little button and her wild hair perfectly imperfect.Everything about her calls out to me I feel an overwhelming surge of emotions course through me- relief that she is safe, yet unease that she could be hurt.
My apprehension quickly turns into an unshakable need to protect her at all costs.
My heart beats wildly as I race after her. She moves like a ghost, faster than I can keep up with, blurring into the darkness with each step. My breath is ragged, my legs trembling like a dying man's.She was a stranger, and yet I felt like my life depended on catching her.But with every step, she seemed to slip further away, taunting me, as if she knew I wouldn't give up.
My breath came in ragged gasps as I pushed myself harder than ever before. I watched the fear in her eyes and knew that she was running from me.
"Please! Stop!" My voice is hoarse but determined as I yell out to her. "I need
to talk to you! Please!"
But she ignores my pleas and continues running, my only clue that she is as desperate to get away from me as I am to catch her. In a final desperate attempt I lunge after her, only to have her slip from my grasp and disappear into the night. Collapsing onto the ground, I am left with nothing but an emptiness that takes the place of whatever it was that drove me forward moments before.
I had failed and my only thought was how could I have let her go?
Sam
The agonizing shrieks coming from the monitor speaker woke me up.I bolted out of bed and flew up the stairs to Xavier's floor. His condition has made it so difficult for him to communicate with anyone, and he has barricaded himself ever since things took a bad turn six months ago.
Bracing myself, I thrust open the door, and I'm met with a sight that sends chills down my spine. Xavier, thrashing maniacally in his bed, loud gibberish spilling from his lips.
I shake him awake, and his blue eyes open with a jolt. Before I have time to react, he grabs me by the neck and starts choking me as I frantically try to pry his fingers off my throat. His striking blues are wide open, gleaming with spite and rage.
Xavier's eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and his ragged breathing was deafening in the silence. The whites of his eyes were turning crimson red, as if they were on fire.
"Xav, wake up..it's me..it's Sam," I try to scream out, but my voice is barely a whisper. I feel my strength draining away as I desperately try to awaken him from his trance. In a last-ditch effort, I push harder, and as if a switch went off, his grip suddenly releases.
