I tucked Twisha in the comforter, her soft breathing barely audible in the stillness of the room. Remembering the intense emotions and thoughts that had coursed through my veins the night before, I still couldn't make sense of it.

A heavy guilt weighted on my heart like a crushing anvil, threatening to swallow me whole. I knew where my actions had led me,this would have consequences, but I didn't know how to make it right.

I was desperate to find a way to explain and apologize for my deplorable behavior and repair the damage I had done.I didn't want to face Twisha—not until I could figure out what was happening to me. As if pierced by a spear, a sharp pain surged through my chest with the thought of pushing her away, leaving me gasping in agony.

The moment I curled up back into bed, desperate for some respite from my worries, there came a knock at the door. Forcing myself up, unsure of what to expect, I trudged towards it and made my way to the door. My father was standing on the threshold, beaming at me with a broad smile.

"Good morning son," he said cheerfully.

But I had no time for pleasantries."Dad," I said urgently, "I need answers—what happened last night?"He invited me to join him on the front steps.

"You are just like your mother, always eager and searching for knowledge."

With a deep sigh he continued"Well tell me how you feel?"

I stepped forward and reluctantly sat beside him.

"I feel good, surprisingly not tired given the events from yesterday." I admitted warily

"But I do feel different somehow...I'm not sure how to explain it." He smiled knowingly before standing up with a smug look on his face

"Well, then all is well" He said with a mischievous glint in his eye

"Now if you will excuse me."

But before he could walk away I blocked his path and grabbed him by his shoulders

"Not so fast Dad! You owe me some answers before you can leave!"

"Very well, I will answer what I can," he said, his eyes gleaming with malicious intent.

"You are not the same person you were last night, you have changed. That is why you feel different this morning."

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice tight. "And who am I? What happened last night?"

"Calm down, son," he began. "I am Lucifer, making you a Nephilim, the offspring of the son of God and daughter of men. On every full moon, I take souls from humans in exchange for granting their wishes; the deal they make with me is sealed with a blood oath. I accept their blood and energy and in return, they gain their desires - be it fame or success or something else. So my power increases on every full moon"

I listened to every word intently, all the while struggling to believe what I was hearing. After the night I have had, disbelief was no longer an option anymore. My heart thumped in my chest, dreading his answer to the next question.

"And why do you need their souls? And where does Twisha come in the picture?"

"I draw strength from their sorrow, their anguish, and their fear. That girl, she's your Soulmate."

His words sounded so matter-of-fact,like it was nothing."Soulmate? But I don't even know her!" I was stunned by this news.

Was it really true? How could this girl I had never met be connected to me?
