After a long stare, I realised that I had held her arms tightly against the door. Instantly, I loosen the grip and slowly I took one step back from her to give a respectful space since she was a woman. I felt like she thought I was repeating the same what Clerk did to her the other day.

I took a pause and calmed myself down before confronting her. "I saw you, why were you with them? Who are they? Are you planning to harm us, since how many days you all have been planning to attack Fort William?"

She didn't even flinch for once, just kept staring at me with glossy eyes as if she didn't understand a single thing I spoke.

Is she really not understanding or just acting innocent?

"Stop confusing my mind!" I closed my eyes before requesting her. "Your eyes, they're distracting me!"

I turned around and started speaking avoiding looking at her eyes. "The Fort William map, Clerk abduction, you throwing stones at the field, you meeting those guys, everything, every little detail was a proof against you except..." I turned and gazed at her again. "...those eyes of yours."

In a quaint English garden, where roses bloom,
There danced a maiden, her eyes a sweet tune.
Innocence adorned her gaze so divine,
A deceptive allure, like aged, aged wine.

Her eyes, pools of wonder, a serene bluff,
Masking secrets, in their tender fluff.
The sunlight kissed the innocence they wore,
Yet veiled within, mysteries galore.

With lashes like whispers, a delicate guise,
Her gaze, a masterful art of disguise.
Bluffing the world with each blink and flutter,
A charade played with grace, like a subtle utter.

Beneath those lids, a tale untold,
A narrative of silver, of secrets bold.
Innocent eyes, a deceptive charmer,
Bluffing hearts with a beguiling armor.

Oh, the allure of those beautiful spheres,
Concealing truths, like ancient veneers.
Innocence as a weapon, a subtle surprise,
Her eyes, the masters of charming the wise.

"Tell me, Avni. Tell me the truth so that I can save you from Father's wrath!" I pleaded. "You know Bengali, you can read and write, Bhavani told me. You made that map, didn't you? I want to know why? If you won't tell me anything, eventually Clerk will tell everything to army and British army will hang you and your father." I said restlessly. "I don't want that. And... also I don't want you and those men to sabotage my family's peace either." I paused. "So, please, I will be patient with your side of the story. I will calmly handle it and help you find a solution to your need. Please, trust me." I begged.

While listening to all of these, she gave no reaction not even a flinch of shock or surprise. She looked worried and nervous. It seemed like she didn't understand a single word I spoke. I huffed in disappointment. I didn't know how to communicate my anger or worry or confusion about her. She only understood what we felt for eachother.

I took a step forward slowly. "You...have you ever really felt anything a bit what I felt for you or it was all part of the mission you are on?" I paused looking here and there and then again gazed at her. "Did you Avni, ever?"

And that is when she slowly blinked and looked down lowering her head slightly.

Did she understand what I said?

"Avni..." I whispered loudly stepping closer to her. "Avni?" Before I could say or ask anything else a loud voice of father calling me alerted us. I looked at the closed door and she looked at me with wide eyes.

How is he back so early?

I hurriedly moved Avni aside and unlocked the door. Before leaving I hushed at her. "Don't leave! I will be back, I have things to talk."
